    Sony ECM-CS3 reviews

ECM-CS3 Tie Clip Microphone is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bang for the buck at this price point! A really great lavaliere stereo microphone which i cannot recommend enough. I've bought this to use while shooting YouTube videos and i wanted something cheap which i could attach to any piece of clothing and boy was i surprised. The sound is crisp and clear without any muffled voices or sounds and it just sounds voice, however you need to put it right on the middle of where you're going to talk and not turn your head left or right as the channels will be lowered when you face away from that side. Either that or you can shoot straight up mono. The only thing i will complain about is the fact that the cable is short... I mean seriously it's extremely short and if you're going to use it with a DSLR or anything else other than a laptop then you will need a cable extension cord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little clip on microphone I use the microphone clipped to my shirt while walking around various projects with a digital voice recorder strapped to my belt.Extremely responsive to my voice and never cuts out or distorts. Microphone part is permanently attached to clip so it NEVER comes off!Best design ever! No battery so never runs down or has parts that come loose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PLEASE DON'T TELL MY COMPETITORS I am a Certified Legal Court Videographer. For years, I was using the cache of Shure lav-mics I had purchased from a going out of business vid company. As they were broken, or otherwise in need of replacement, finding and purchasing the same high quality mics became an issue in time and money. While thumbing a B&H catalog, I saw this mic listed for$rather than the ten times plus amount I was paying. Knowing I would probably send it back for a refund, I ordered one with an XLR adapter. I now own 2 dozen of them and use at least 6 every day. They have clips attached and, for depositions, are as good as anything I have used. They are hotter than the Shures and I have only broken one channel on one mic in 2 years of use. Lawyers are not the most careful putting them on and off. The built-on clip is a huge plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice stereo lav -- good sound! Designed for devices with a phantom-powered stereo input, it works great on my computer and camcorder. A big improvement over built-in webcam and camcorder mics. The audio is clear and natural; has plenty of highs but isn't tinny. There isn't much stereo separation but that's to be expected as both opposing elements have an omni pattern. I like it: good sound; low price; no battery!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Microphone, but not with the H2n The microphone is fantastic. I'm totally impressed with the clear robust sound. I've seen more expensive microphones of this type with far less quality. The ECM-CS3 has a good range, but yet does a fairly good job of blocking other sounds. When connected to my laptop or desktop via mic input - the audio sounds crystal clear and does a great job of filtering outside sounds. My only complaint is that this microphone did not work with my Zoom H2n. However, since the mic works elsewhere and offers clear sound, I'm giving it a high rating. I thought the mic was defective, but works fine with other devices including my * pocket Sony voice recorder. To confirm my H2n was working, I connected a powered lav on the H2n and it worked as usual. I also tested the ECM-CS3 on my Sony A57, which has auto attenuators, and it worked surprisingly well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best low cost lavalier mic! I did a youtube review of this vs the Azden EX 503 and also the Olymus ME15.The sony sounded great, and was the loudest of the bunch.Having a loud/sensitive microphone is beneficial, in that most recording devices have some amount of noise floor, often this noise floor is raised if you turn up the input gain on the recording device. The louder the mic, the less gain is needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for recording group conversations When I need to record a meeting of several people this dual headed mic allows me to just set it in the middle of the action and hit the record button to pick up voices from all directions. No need to be constantly be pointing a uni-directional mic at the speaker, just pay attention to the content of the conversation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well Bought this to add an external microphone to my GoPro Hero 4 Silver, modified a GoPro housing to allow a GoPro 3.5mm Mic Adapter for HERO4 to plug in with the housing on and then used the Sony ECM-CS3 Tie Clip Microphone. This set up allows me to record sound that the camera would not pick up while in the housing.
