The Sony Signature VAIO Z2 VPCZ21SHX/X 13.1" Laptop Computer is a compact notebook computer. The system features a 13.1" LCD display with a LED backlight, 16:9 aspect ratio, and Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. An external sheet battery is included for extended cord-free operation -- up to 14 hours at default brightness.
The system weighs in at only 2.6 pounds by itself, or 3.7 pounds when used with the external battery. Due to its form factor, the computer doesn't include a built-in optical drive. Rather, a desktop docking station with a built-in Blu-ray burner support is included with the system.
It is rife with wireless options -- dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR are standard issue. The system includes built-in hardware that allows you to use it with the mobile broadband provider of your choice. Using the computer is comfortable too, as it features a multi-gesture touchpad. The VAIO Z2 also sports a webcam, integrated microphone, and memory card reader.
For those times when you'd like to watch content on a larger screen, the VAIO supports Intel's Wireless Display technology, which allows you to connect to an HDTV wirelessly. You'll need the optional Netgear Push2TV accessory to utilize this technology. An HDMI output is available for wired HDTV connectivity.
The computer is powered by a dual-core 2.7GHz Intel Core i7-2620M CPU, which can be overclocked to 3.4GHz thanks to Intel Turbo Boost. It is loaded with 8GB of RAM, 512GB of solid state storage, and integrated Intel GMA HD 3000 graphics. Windows 7 Ultimate with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) is the installed operating system.
