A normal-length prime lens designed for M-mount rangefinder cameras, the Nokton Classic 40mm f/1.4 MC from Voigtlander blends the comfortable, unique focal length with an especially bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, which benefits working in low-light conditions as well as offering increased control over depth of field. A multi-coating is featured to suppress lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. The lens also has a manual focus design, for working with subjects as close as 2.3', and has a 10-blade diaphragm for a smooth bokeh quality.

Manual focus design permits smooth, refined control along with a minimum focusing distance of 2.3'.
A 10-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Would NOT mount to my M7

Nice lens I have read but it would not mount to my M7 due to similar problem as noted on one 50mm 1.0 vm lens, an imperfect bottom lens bayonet mount leaves it loose not clicking in to stop movement. This was true for a specimen I bought from Japan and another bought from B&H. B&H fairly took the lens back so B&H gets 5 stars A+ for their honesty and fair return practices.

question
I have a Sony A7. Does focus peaking work on this lens with an adapter? Additionally does BH sell the MFD adapter for the lens?
Yes, focus peaking will work on the A7 using this lens. The Hawks Leica M to Sony E mount lens will enable a closer minimum focusing distance, B&H #HAHKSLM2SEMH.

question
Will this fit in Lumix gh2?
The Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.4 M-Mount Lens is an M-mount lens, not a Micro Four Thirds lens, so it would not be directly compatible with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Mirrorless Digital Camera without the use of an adapter. As such, I would recommend the Metabones Leica M Lens to Micro Four Thirds Lens Mount Adapter (Black), B&H # MELMM43BM2, to connect the lens onto your GH2 Digital Camera.

For a filmmakers would you recommend single or multi coat?
I don't shoot any video. So I can't comment on the question about single vs multi coatings. I will say that multi-coatings are intended to reduce flare and other artifacts, so if flare is part of your visual vocabulary for film, you likely will get more with the single coated version.
