Pairing advanced imaging performance with a flexible optic, the Panasonic LUMIX S1R II Mirrorless Camera with LUMIX S 24-60mm f/2.8 Lens delivers high-end performance, pro-level flexibility, and a streamlined workflow for hybrid creators in the studio, on location, or in remote setups.
The Panasonic LUMIX S 24-60mm f/2.8 Lens offers professional performance in a portable form factor, delivering a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout its zoom range. Designed for full-frame L-Mount cameras, this hybrid-ready zoom is built to handle everything from wide-angle landscapes to detailed portraits, with stunning image quality, soft background bokeh, and advanced close-up capabilities. Whether you're shooting stills or high-quality video, it's a compact, reliable tool ready to go anywhere.
Versatile Performance in a Compact Design
Engineered for hybrid creators, its constant f/2.8 brightness ensures consistent exposure and low-light performance across the entire zoom range—from wide 24mm to standard 60mm—making it well suited for landscapes, portraits, street scenes, and handheld video work. Despite its professional optics, it remains remarkably portable at just 1.2 lb and under 4 inches in length. With a minimum focusing distance of just 7.5" and a maximum magnification of 0.3x, the lens excels at capturing expressive close-ups, whether isolating small details with smooth bokeh or incorporating environmental context. When paired with select LUMIX S cameras—including the S1II, S1IIE, S1RII, S5II, S5IIX, and S9—the Hybrid Zoom function can extend focal length digitally up to 187mm, providing added versatility without compromising framing or speed. A standout feature is the dual-function focus ring, which can be reassigned to control aperture or exposure compensation and reversed for a custom feel. Manual focus is supported during zooming, allowing for smooth subject transitions—ideal for videographers. You can also choose between linear mode for mechanical-style consistency or non-linear mode for responsive, speed-based focus shifts. Built with rugged outdoor shooting in mind, the lens is dust-, splash-, and freeze-resistant, and its optics meet the rigorous standards of the L-Mount Alliance for seamless cross-system compatibility.

Panasonic S1RII Reviews
Yes, it still overheats and battery life is poor after latest firmware update.

Best for: Hybrid shooters who prioritize image quality, color science, and flexible video formats over long, uninterrupted recording.
What It Does Well
• Strong hybrid camera with high resolution stills and advanced video features
• Excellent codec and frame rate options, suitable for professional workflows
• Open gate and full frame readout for maximum flexibility in post and anamorphic lenses
• Outstanding color fidelity, especially for skin tones
• Compact body relative to its capabilities
Where It Falls Short
• Overheating remains an issue, even after the latest firmware update (overheating in air conditioned offices shooting interviews and outside shooting b-roll and scenics)
• CFexpress cards run extremely hot, contributing to thermal concerns
• Poor battery life, especially for high resolution or long video shoots
• Awkward audio + wireless module stacking, causing balance and wobble issues
• Limited L mount lens selection compared to competing systems
• Focus tracking lags behind Sony and Canon, especially for video
Bottom Line
The Lumix S1R II delivers beautiful images, flexible recording options, and Panasonic’s signature color science—but ongoing overheating and battery life problems limit its reliability for long form or event work. It’s a strong choice for controlled shoots and hybrid creators, but not ideal if you need sustained recording, rock solid autofocus, or an expansive lens ecosystem.
Buy it if: Image quality, color, and open gate flexibility matter most.
Skip it if: You shoot long events, rely heavily on autofocus, or need all day battery life.
Debating on selling or trading both of our Lumix S1Rii's for Canon's C50. I would give the camera 2.5 stars if I could.

I was a Sony User for over 10 years and I needed a Hybrid Camera. I could not justify getting the A7V when a camera like the S1RII & S1II exist. This was hands down the best purchase Ive ever made. The Still are amazing, the video is amazing. This Camera literally does it all under 4000. I dont regret this purchase one bit. Highly recommended.

Does this camera have a PC terminal for powerpack/studio flash?
Asked by: Craig
The Panasonic LUMIX S1R II Mirrorless Camera with 24-60mm f/2.8 Lens does not have a PC sync terminal. It only has a hot shoe. One can use a wireless flash trigger, or you can use an adapter, like the Vello Universal Hot Shoe Adapter with 3.5mm Mini Phono and PC Connection, BH # VEHSAPCU35, to create a port on the camera.

Does the higher pixel resolution of this camera give it a more capable hybrid zoom (longer reach) compared to the S1IIE?
Asked by: Zak
The Panasonic LUMIX S1R II Mirrorless Camera with Basic Bundle is about double the resolution compared to the Panasonic LUMIX S1 IIE. You will be able to crop the image more without loss. And by doing that, it will appear to give more zoom.
