Canon did not qualify any of the EF 24-105 lenses to be sufficiently sharp to support the 50MP resolution of the Canon 5Ds and 5DsR. The RF 24-105 lenses are sharp enough to support the 45MP resolution of the R5 bodies. So yes, if you're after maximum detail resolution for that focal range, the new RF lenses are in a class of their own compared to that EF focal range.
If you ever want to know if your EF lenses are "good enough" for RF bodies with high resolution, just search for what EF lenses Canon recommended for the 5Ds and 5DsR.

As I do not own or have any experience with the RF 24-70 F2.8 lens, I can only speak to the merits of the one I do own, the 24-105 f4 L.
As stated by others, I find the F4 L to be very sharp and crisp, with good contrast, and it delivers amazing image quality. I believe you would not regret buying it, realizing that a significant price difference between it and the 24-70 f2.8 does not necessarily translate into higher quality.
