Centralize your MIDI studio with the Black Lion Audio MIDI Eight, an 8-in, 8-out MIDI interface and patchbay that allows you to seamlessly connect all your 5-pin DIN MIDI gear to your computer and to each other. With 16 channels per MIDI port, three routing modes, and simple plug-and-play connection via USB-C, the MIDI Eight simplifies your MIDI connections for the studio or stage.
Selectable routing modes include Pass mode (for individual routing of each input and output), Thru mode (for outputting a single MIDI input to every output), and Merge mode (for outputting every MIDI input to one output). Along with eight 5-pin DIN MIDI inputs and eight outputs, you also get a 5-port powered USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub for connecting modern USB MIDI hardware, mobile devices, or computer peripherals. LED indicators are present for MIDI I/O, routing modes, and USB power. The Panic button is useful muting stuck notes. The MIDI Eight can be powered by convenient USB bus power, or optionally via AC power adapter. With an elegant and durable aluminum enclosure, this interface exudes the ruggedness and style Black Lion is known for. The MIDI Eight includes a power adapter.
- In Pass mode, MIDI inputs are routed directly to their corresponding outputs for quick, intuitive connections. Connect a controller or sequencer to MIDI In 1, and its data is sent to MIDI Out 1.
- In Thru mode, MIDI input signals are sent to all output ports simultaneously. This is an ideal choice for users with a single controller or sequencer, and multiple synths and drum machines.
- Merge mode is the opposite of THRU Mode: all input ports are merged and sent to MIDI Out 1. This is a great choice if you have multiple controllers and sequencers and you want to send your data to a single multichannel sound generator or DAW.
