The Contax 645 is a sophisticated SLR offering a unique combination of ease-of-use and image quality. By including both auto and manual exposure, auto and manual focus along with interchangeable Zeiss T* lenses, Contax has designed a professional 6 x 4.5cm system which expands the range for taking medium format photographs.
This camera features exposure compensation, auto bracketing, mirror lock-up, TTL and pre-flash metering capabilities as well as a built-in motor winder allowing film advance at 1.6fps. The integrated pre-flash TTL metering system tests the flash output before exposing the film. This feature not only applies to Contax system flashes, but to general purpose and studio flash equipment as well.
The Contax "real-time" vacuum system, used in the 220 vacuum film insert (MFB-1B ), ensures that film is held flat against the pressure plate resulting in sharper images. Data imprinting is built-in with reference data such as shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and film type recorded outside the image area. With all this and more, the Contax 645 is an advanced camera with features to suit every photographer's need in the studio or on location.
