Panasonic RPSDB08GB1K overview

  • 1Description

The Panasonic 8GB SDHC Memory Card Class 10 UHS-I marks an evolution in flash memory. This UHS-I card, in addition to its 8GB of memory, features and offload speed of 1.5 minutes, and a transfer rate of 90MB/s. Optimized for professional use, the card incorporates a Super Intelligent Controller System (SICS) which extends the shelf life of the card, provides power failure protection, and controls the data written to the card so that the entire card is used fully over its lifetime. In addition, the card is ultra reliable with water, shock, magnetization, X-ray, and extreme temperature protection. It can even withstand a 1.5 ton car running over it. Panasonic also provides free downloads for file recovery software and free Card Checker Software for assessing the remaining life of the card.

This 32GB Ultra High Speed (UHS-I) SDHC Memory card is a full Class 10 with a transfer rate of 90MBs and offload speed of 1.5 minutes with a singular clip It is faster, smarter and more robust than current SDHC cards and has been fully optimized for professional use, notably with Panasonic's broad AVCCAM line of affordable HD camcorders and recorders. To achieve the SBD Series UHS-I media's high-speed transfer rate, a user must have a computer embedded with USB 3.0 technology and be equipped with a Panasonic UHS-I USB adapter or an SDHC card slot that supports the UHS-I's chip
This UHS card also incorporates a powerful Super Intelligent Controller System (SICS) that has three primary functions. The first is to extend the archive shelf life of the card and its respective recordings, second to provide power failure protection, and third, to control the data writing to the card so that the entire card is used fully over its lifetime
10 Times Archival Life
SICS automatically refreshes data because repeated playback of the same data without refreshing can introduce errors. This refreshing functionality optimizes data playback performance and has the effect of boosting archival life by a factor of 10
Power Failure Protection
In the event of a power failure, SICS saves original data back to the card so there is no corruption or loss of material. If a power failure occurs, not only can the current clip being recorded become damaged, but data can be corrupted in other areas as well. With the SICS feature, it is like the power failure never occurred. This has been tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland, a leading Product Certification provider, for up to 1,000 times
Smart Data Writing
SICS also equalizes the rewrite areas on the card so that data writing begins at the point where the previous recording ended, even on a reformatted card. This ensures that a card is totally used in one full rewrite cycle, which minimizes to the greatest extent possible the depletion of flash memory's finite program-erase capacities
Ultra Reliable
In addition to SICS protecting the integrity of the cards, another valuable feature is Proof 5 durability encompassing resistance to water, shock, magnetization, X-rays and temperature extremes. The card is operable under severe temperature conditions from -13F to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. It is protected from x-rays at baggage inspections in airports and can withstand being run over by a 1.5-ton car. It comes with a one-year professional warranty
Card Checker Software
Panasonic will also offer free Card Checker software that assesses professional UHS-I media for remaining card life. The Card Checker software is compatible with Windows 7, XP and Mac, and requires operation with a computer embedded with USB 3.0 technology or equipped with a Panasonic UHS-I USB adapter. In addition, there is a one year warranty being offered covering Professional use of the card

    Panasonic RPSDB08GB1K reviews

8GB SDHC Memory Card Class 10 UHS-I is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Item and Price is Right! With 8gb cards becoming the norm these days, this card is priced right and works very well. Writing speed is very fast and files look great. Comes with plastic case to keep lint free while in ones pocket during outings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value Fast Cards This is the fourth card of this type that I have purhased because they work so much better than a lot of the others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth Every Penny I shoot with Panasonic AF100s and well as P2 cameras. I have used these cards for several months. When you understand the features of this SD card, it's a no-brainer to purchase. First off, the card is ruggedized, so it does not flex like a regular card. I have had cheaper cards crack in half in my hand. Secondly, these cards are 5 proof: Shock, Temperature, Water, Xray, and Magnet proof. More like a P2 card than anything I have seen. Most importantly, the cards use a special controller inside the card to prevent clip/card corruption when a file might not get closed (like when your battery runs out in the middle of a take). Plus it balances the memory writing, by not writing to the same spot on the card all the time, so that the card lasts a long time. As a bonus, the card reads twice as fast as a regular class 10 card, so offloading from the card is quick. The cards also have a mini-qr code, which is like a serial number. I am waiting for a reader for my phone, that will allow me to track usage via QR code. When used with the new Panasonic USB 3.0 reader, you can run a integrity check on the card before you shoot, just for added piece of mind. Overall, this card is a no-brainer.
