Decent protection option

I bought this to allow me to have extra rear caps in bags to keep lenses clean during changes. The cap clamps securely, which is great. I have a couple of spare Pentax-branded KA caps I have accumulated that are stamped with R.O.C. instead of Japan, and they don't make great field caps because they won't clamp onto the mount for a snug fit. I am happy that these do not have that problem. Their shortcoming, however, is that the mounting flange is too shallow by a couple of millimeters - see attached picture. I don't think this will be a problem for most of my intended use, keeping a cap on while the bag is open and I am between lenses on my camera. However, if you use things like a lens vest or tend to keep your lenses in places that are likely to be dirty, be aware that the mount surface and electrical contacts are not directly covered. The mount surface probably isn't a huge problem, as the original K mount caps don't have the flange for the contacts, but the KA and later mounts won't have meaningful coverage from this cap. Otherwise, this is definitely serviceable and a pretty good bargain for what I needed.

Good Rear Cap

Feels sturdy, grips pretty tightly, covers the back of the lens securely. I definitely feel like I can trust this to protect my lenses. It's not the prettiest rear cap in the world, but who cares? Does what it's meant to do, and does it well.

one of the reviewers mentions that it does not cover the electrical contacts. Is that correct? Thank you for your time!
