The Tiffen 77mm Neutral Density 1.2 Filter is a solid ND filter with a 16x filter factor that provides a 4 stop exposure reduction. Its 1.2 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

1.2 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 4 stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.
77mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.
Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

77mm Neutral Density 1.2 Filter is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Round ND Filters for HDSLR Video Certainly, theses filters are very useful when shooting handheld outdoors with HDSLR cameras like the Canon 5DmkII which is by the way, a very sensitive camera due to its full frame sensor. Recommended ASA for video are 320 or 640 @ 1/50 when shooting at 24 frames. I bought the complete set of 4 77mm NDs (0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and this 1.2 Circular ND) with a set of step-up rings because we usually use lenses of 77mm diameter or less like the Zeiss ZFs 28-35-50-85mm. Theses filters are mainly used for handheld or low-profile shooting since we usually use a 3-position matte box and 4x5.65 filters for studio or tripod lock-downs. All these filters work flawlessly even with the Canon 17-40mm F4L which already has a Tiffen UV Haze-1 onboard. The Tiffen Belt Pouch for 4 large filters is a must. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 77mm Neutral Density 1.2 Filter by Tiffen The Tiffen filters are very reasonably price, the product is middle of the road for quality and the glass is very good. Tiffen has a great name and their products are of good quality. I go to Tiffen for my products because they are consistent in quality for the price. Always confident using Tiffen filters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Suitable for Ultra Wides I tested this with two lenses, the Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II and the Tokina 11-16 on a Canon 7D. Using the 70-200 it worked fine. But on the 11-16 exhibited fairly significant color shift in the corners (the filter ring did not cause vignetting, however) but considering the price I can't complain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what I want and does it well I have this filter in 72mm and needed one for a wide-angle lens. This fits the bill. I enjoy waterfall photography and this allows me to slow down the shutter speed to 5-15 seconds (depending on clouds) and still keep everything sharp. There is a slight color cast but it is easily addressed in PP (I shoot RAW). For denser I would go with the IRND filters to avoid the casting. All in all - great filter - no loss of sharpness - clear glass - will continue to use Tiffen filters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the money I was looking for a between ND ... this is a great example enough to get day shots slowed down and very good at night shots without issue. Some talk about color casting or shifts, I have yet to see any of that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs well and inexpensive Does what is required to enable photos of waterfalls to give them silky water.
