Each Lyre is extremely sturdy and virtually unbreakable because there are no elastic components, which tend to sag or break. They feature a soft-grip internal surface on the mic clip that helps prevent the mic from twisting or slipping and stops the clip from scratching the mic's powder-coated surface. Included are two Lyres, a modular bar adapter, and screws.

The Lyres are available in three different degrees of shore hardness, which allow users to choose a soft, more compliant suspension for lightweight, short microphones or a stiffer hardness for longer microphones.
The different hardness degrees are easily identified by the Lyre color combinations. The lower the number, the softer the shore hardness. The 62 shore is softer than the 72 shore, and the 82 shore is the stiffest. Shore hardness color combinations are:
