TP-Link TL-WN722N overview

  • 1Description

The TP-Link 150 Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter allows you to connect a desktop or notebook computer to a wireless network and access a high-speed Internet connection. Compliant with IEEE 802.11n, it provides wireless speeds up to 150 Mbps, which is great for online gaming or video streaming. Using Align TM 1-stream technology based on 802.11n technology, the adapter gives you a more robust wireless signal than existing wireless 802.11g technology can provide. The adapter demonstrates an excellent ability to curb data loss over long distances and through obstacles in a small office or a large apartment--even in a steel-and-concrete building! You can easily pick up the wireless network during long-distance connection, where legacy 11g wireless products may not be able to do so.

Clear Channel Assessment (CCA) technology automatically avoids channel conflicts using its clear channel selection feature, and fully realizes the advantages of channel binding, greatly enhancing wireless performance. As for security, the adapter provides WPA/WPA2 encryptions that are created by the WI-FI Alliance industry group, promoting interpretability and security for WLAN, more effectively and efficiently protecting the wireless network than a WEP encryption.

The adapter's 4 dBi high gain external antenna can be rotated and adjusted in different directions to fit various operation environments, and can bring better performance than the internal antenna. For even more demanding applications, the antenna can be replaced with diverse antennas to show even greater flexibility and wider wireless coverage.

Compatible with WI-FI Protected Setup (WPS), this adapter features Quick Security Setup that allows you to almost instantly setup your security. Just press the "QSS" button and you will automatically establish a WPA2 secure connection. This is not only faster than normal security setups, but also more convenient in that you don't need to remember a password. An included CD with utility helps you complete the software installation and wireless network setup.

    TP-Link TL-WN722N reviews

150 Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a bit big and bulky, but it works! The TP-Link works great! It picks-up wireless signals from relatively long distances. I see signals from more than just my two side neighbor's houses: Routers that must be 500 + feet away from my house. Now, it's not that I need free internet from my neighbor's unsecured wireless, but no matter which computer I plug it into, on any floor of the house, it'll pick-up signal without a hitch. For $. this thing really rocks! The only drawback is that it takes-up a lot of real estate at the USB plug-in zones. The extra wide footprint eliminates access to the USB ports to the left and right of it but not the ports above and below.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from If only i got what everyone else here did. This is not a good product for gaming at all. It is constantly disconnecting and having terrible jumping ping no matter how close it is to the router. Will be replacing or refunding this product and definitely not recommending to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in class I have a very unreliable Internet connection in my apartment. Sometimes I can't get online for days. I was previously using Iogear's USB GWU523 802.11g/b adapter, which worked well in other settings but didn't cut it in my apartment. Now I consistently get several bars (versus one if I'm lucky) and connect at 54 Mbps (versus 1 Mbps). It detects 20 other networks near my apartment. We're talking the entire floor and several other stories. And the walls are very thick here. Also, it includes a USB extension cord so you can place the adapter closer to your router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a desktop I purchased this adapter so I wouldn't have to run cables across the house. I'm using a desktop with both Windows 7 and Linux. For windows you need to install the driver from the CD, but in Linux it uses the ath9k_htc driver which requires no special configuration. The external antenna provides a perfect signal even with the router on the opposite side of the house. The problem with the antenna is that it gets in the way of cables when plugged directly into the back panel. I was able to fix this by plugging it into an extension cable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs Flawlessly I needed to move a desktop computer to another room. Unfortunately it did not have a wireless access card. I really did not want to open up the computer and install a card. I found this unit at the right price. It installed quickly and without problem. It seems to process even faster than the ethernet port previously used. The only issue was the mini CD installation software. My desktop was set up vertically which included a vertical CD drive. I had to change the CPU to horizontal for the installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best signal strength I've seen I buy a lot of adapters for friends and family, and I've bought plenty top-of-the-line adapters that cost 3-4x the price of this one, but can not even come close to matching the signal strength of these! These totally ignore a solid cement wall between them and the router like it's open air! This is my 1st experience with this particular product so time will tell if the build quality will match the signal quality. I'm definitley buying these from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. I purchased for a pc in the living and was concerned about signal strength. The wireless router is directly above it on the second floor. The pc has a 5 bar signal, no issues at all. The phone company router only has 802.11g, but speed was still substantial. The extra USB cable means it doesn't have to stick out of a USB slot on the front or rear of a PC case where it might snap off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Low-cost adapter Needed a reliable wifi connection for a desktop computer running remotely in the basement and didn't want to go through the hassle of running a wire (the basement is very cool compared to the rest of the house, perfect for mining). Windows 7 recognized the adapter quickly. Have been using it for about a week so far and has maintained a reliable connection 24/7.
