    KanexPro HDEXT50M reviews

HDEXT50M HDMI Extender Kit is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from They seem to work with Go Pro Hero 3+ :) I have been trying to find a solution to extend my go pros over a long reach. Right now they are working using the micro hdmi out on the go pro into the reciever Kanexpro extender our of it to a 50 foot cat 5 cable then into the reciever end via cat 5 out of the hdmi output to my ATEM switcher. I was getting some green spakles on occasion in black zones when hooked up to a cheap HD TV but did not get that with a Sony handycam so may have some issues or maybe its the TV. We shall see but picture looks the same as if the camera were connected straight in to the tv via short HDMI so I like them says it goes up to 130 feet max working at 50 for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Finicky and unreliable. First off it isn't an extender; it's a converter set. The difference is that instead of my device connecting directly to the destination, it's actually connecting to the transmitter box that compresses the signal and sends it to the receiver which then talks to the destination. As such your source won't pick up the destination's EDID. Also the converter requires very specific settings in order to work and the tech inside is far more complicated and finicky than a a true extender would be. The device can work, I've seen it. But I've also gone through FIVE sets of them. They don't like DVI signals even if they're 1080i or 720p. It's iffy on many other computer resolutions that should work fine according to the device specs. If you're looking for something inexpensive I recommend B&H # AVHDMC53M or B&H # AVDVIC5MSET or any number of similar products. They actually extend your true signal rather than converting it and then converting back. If you need to go further you really need to go a category up to something like B&H # KRTP573 B&H # KRTP574

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable When they work, these are great. But I have purchased 5 of these, and they all failed over a two year period. Very finicky to power surges. Strongly suggest you try another product and save yourself the hassle.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works, but not for long When 1st purchased it worked fine, but it only lasted for 4 months. I own a similar device which cost 5x more than the Kanex. Ive owned it for years and its great. .... you get what you pay for

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some Kanex products work. The extender over CAT 5 is a necessary product to use for runs of HDMI over 25'. We have purchased a half dozen Kanex HDMI cables to go with their splitters in installations and ALL have failed and proved to be problematic. That's a 100% fail rate. The CAT 5 system works with a slight delay, but connected the HDMI signal first time. This is definitely the way to go when running HDMI signal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Appliaction Im currently using this for a projector setup. I have this plugged into Kopul 4-port HDMI switch box via the HDMI. The Kopul is connected to my FIOS, a COMPUTER, my DVD Player and Mini HDMI device. All devices are switched through th Kopul and HDMI out to the this Extender to a Projector via Aprox. a 50ft Cat5e run. This product does its job great so far and connectivity was easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well in our application We are using the KanexPro extender to go from an equipment room to the television using pre-installed Cat5e cable in our home. Our source is 1080i only. The configuration has a 6' cable from the transmitter, connected to an estimated 30' of cable (through the walls and ceiling), then another 3' of cable from the wall to the receiver, for a total estimated cable length of 40' (13m). This includes two couplers to connect to the existing cable in the wall. None of the cables (or connectors) are shielded, and the connectors are all EZ end style. Even though this configuration goes against the manufacturer's recommendations (do not use couplers, or EZ end connectors; strongly recommend terminated and shielded cable and connectors), it is working fine for us, probably because of the relatively short total cable length and the 1080i signal. We are very happy with the performance. We just hooked it up and it worked.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great except for 1080p Using this in basement with a Tivo HD and PlayStation 3 to a Sony 60 LCD NX801 (1080p) about 40 feet away. This solution was cheaper than my previous HDMI extender, which failed after 1 year. The picture looks fantastic at 1080i and 720p, although I couldn't successfully pass the 1080p signal from the Playstation 3. Also, the status light on the receiver box does not work, but this is a very minor inconvenience. Overall, I'm satisfied with purchase, and happy the price is 50% less than competitor products.
