So I bought 2 pieces of this HDMI extender. I am very sad about the quality of this product. First of all, the product is made of plastic. Different of the previous version, that was made with metal. I spent all day trying to put the equipament to work. Sometimes i got it, sometimes not. So, i live in Brazil and is so hard to change the equipament.

Unit is working as described. Bought it to replace a KanexPro set purchased 4 years ago that quit working. Enclosure is now plastic, Old one was metal. Shouldn’t really be an issue. B&H was great as usual. Thanks

I'm using several of these now, and they all work great! cat5/6 cable runs from 30-100 feet. I especially like the fact that the receiver is powered through the cable and doesn't need power of its own. I also like the HDMI thru on the transmitter, which lets me have one less splitter for some of my applications. Definitely worth the price.

Performs as Specified

Great kit. Performs exactly as expected. No degradation to picture on loop through or extended HDMI. Only requires power on the input/loop side which is nice, and the IR extending function works exceptionally well (unlike many other competing devices).

question

Can this transmit HDMI output from a camera to an HDMI input on a monitor for wireless viewing?
Asked by: Nathan W.
The KanexPro HDMI Extender over CAT 5e/6 (165') is a superb system. However it does not work wirelessly. For that, please see the products of Teradek, IDC or Paralink.

Does anyone know (or have measured) any latency or lag time from transmission to reception in this extender?
Asked by: Ben
All electronics has some sort of latency. How much and if you can see it all depends on the specific product.

Is this compatible with Extron DTP Inputs & Outputs?
Asked by: Mohammed D.
Probably no. You would need to work with the approved EXTRON product that works with the product you own. This is something that you may want to connect with Extron about.

can a vga to cat5 converter be used on one end of Cat5 cable, and the KanexPro Cat5 to HDMI on other end of Cat5? thanks for your remarks.
Asked by: Carlyle
In theory, this should work. I would suggest using a VGA extender and convert the VGA signal on one end to HDMI with a VGA to HDMI converter.

can it be connected to my actual cat 5 network, or i have to cable a dedicated?

Everyone's correct, you cant. And the ones that you can, bandwidth is much lower (even Gigibit Ethernet) so there is compression at 1080.
