The adapter easily adds a protective filter for little money. The only caution is do not tighten too much; the adapter will prevent the camera from closing the lens properly. You will receive an error message on the camera. It is best to mount the adapter while the camera is OFF. Turn it on then off again to ensure you do not receive an error. Check it periodically to ensure it has not detached.

This works for Macro Nikkor 65mm f3.5 which has a 38mm/P0.5 front thread and allows to mount any 52mm/P0.75 regular filters or adapters. It gets the job done inexpensively.
