Matrox T2G-DP-MIF overview

  • 1Description

The TripleHead2Go DP Edition External GXM from Matrox is an external Graphics eXpansion Module that lets you drive 3 displays, each at up to 1920 x 1080 resolution, from a single DisplayPort (DP) connector. This allows you to drive 3 displays from a laptop or from a desktop that only has one DisplayPort. You can also drive the 3 displays at 1680 x 1050 resolution each, or you can drive just 2 at 1920 x 1200 resolution each. The module allows you to drive displays using DVI, VGA, HDMI and Mini-DP outputs, provided you have the required adapter cables (not included). You can even connect a second TripleHead2Go to your graphics hardware to support up to 6 monitors at a time!

The module uses your system's existing GPU to provide high-quality, uncompressed graphics and video across all monitors. You can run different applications on each display or view one application across multiple monitors. A multi monitor set-up allows you to organize your workspace more efficiently, multi-task more comfortably and make fewer mistakes. Compatible with both Mac and PC, a wide variety of graphics cards, and most chipsets by ATI, Intel and nVIDIA, the TripleHead2Go DP Edition is a great way to quickly and easily add triple monitor capability to a notebook or desktop PC.

Increased Productivity
A triple monitor configuration can help enhance productivity when working. You'll find it much easier to work with multiple documents and windows at the same time, allowing you to more effectively multitask.
Surround Gaming
Using 3 displays for computer gaming can create a more immersive experience. A "surround vision" can create a panoramic effect that makes computer game playing more like a widescreen movie. This increased field of view lets you see more of the game environment. Many popular games support this configuration.
Bundled Management Software
Includes Matrox PowerDesk software to easily manage your desktop configuration. Includes Matrox Monitor Bezel Management (Windows only), designed to enhance gaming environments by converting 3 seemingly disjointed images into 1 continuous image, enhancing the surround gaming experience. Matrox Clone Mode is available for viewing a copy of one display on the other displays.
Versatile Performance
The TripleHead2Go can be used with a notebook or desktop computer with a DisplayPort. You'll be able to add 3 independent displays to your laptop or desktop from its monitor output. Your computer screen can be displayed on three 1920 x 1080 monitors via DP output for an impressive 5760 x 1080 resolution. Or, you can display your screen on just two 1920 x 1200 monitors via DP, for a total resolution of 3840 x 1200. You can drive HDMI and MDP monitors, as well (cables required), at a maximum resolution of 5040 x 1050 (3x 1680 x 1050).
Multi-GXM Support
Want to go further? Expand your desktop even more and connect a second TripleHead2Go to your graphics hardware to support up to 6 monitors at a time! Just combine both units to a dual output graphics card and take advantage of the increased desktop space. Please note: Multiple GXMs are supported under Windows only and GXM software suite 2.06 or above is required. GXMs must be of the same make and model.
Portable Design
You can fit the TripleHead2Go in the palm of your hand. This allows you to take it where your notebook goes, giving you the ability to take advantage of triple-monitor displays wherever you have access to them.
Painless Installation
Quick and easy to install; there's no need to open the computer case or insert components.
Easy Access
Spans taskbar across monitors for easy access to all your open applications.
Wide Compatibility
The device works with LCDs, CRTs and projectors. It's compatible with both PC and Mac computers, as well as a wide range of notebook and desktop video cards. It supports most graphics chipsets by ATI, Intel and nVIDIA.

    Matrox T2G-DP-MIF reviews

TripleHead2Go DP Edition External GXM is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice for About Two Years I've been using this to drive three large monitors to create an expanded desktop workspace with a MACBook Pro. Once I figure out the settings the system does well. But figuring them out is usually not without their support desk. Those guys are good but as a lifetime computer nerd it really should not be that hard to figure out. These units last for me about two years before they just die. So this is my third one. If there was another solution for driving a MAC to three monitors I'd switch in a heartbeat. When this works well it's very good but in this age of advanced electronics it should NOT be so buggy, hard to setup and failure prone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the GXM you want. I use the Matrox TripleHead2Go's to trick my computers into thinking one output is actually 3 wide and expanded over 3 projectors. I had the Digital SE edition and that one is awesome too but I wanted to be able to make 200ft cable runs. By switching to the DP edition I was able to put together a system that has 200ft vga cable runs to each projector for under 1,000$ (including the Matrox, dp - vga converters, and splitter/extenders). With the Digital SE I would have had to spend that much on each run via HDMI or DVI over Cat5.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Read the description carefully I ASSUMED that this device could be used with a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. This is not true. The connection from the PC to the TripleHead2Go DP Edition MUST be a true DisplayPort signal, with no adapters. If your PC has only HDMI video outputs, look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does exactly what it says it does It's a great product a in expensive way to split single video across multiple screens and it does it well, just make sure if you have a MacBook pro with mini display port that you buy the dp edition don't get the digital edittion cause the display port is dual link. It does what it says it does other then not being able to edge blend it works great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Multipurpose Splitter Matrox has cornered the market on splitters of this type. The Triplehead2go has an easy set up and is useful for a wide range of applications. The software does have intermittent issues with recent MacOs versions such as Mavericks but they can be worked around. We have had a hardware failures with one of these products before but they are backed by a warranty. Pros: good buy, multi-application, straight-forward set up Cons: occasional software issues, we have experienced a hardware failure resulting in its return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I use these to feed widescreen graphics at 3840x1080 or 5760x1080 for blended widescreen application in live events. I also feed two 1920x1200 monitors with one, and it works well. They work equally well on MACs with the included mini-DP adapter and on my PC laptops with DP

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I do many Macbook Pro based super-wide screen presentations. The TripleHead2Go is the best, maybe only, way to spread the presentation over a screen that can be 3840 x 1080 or wider. The setup is very easy and the images look great. I'm very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little device Functions exactly as listed, allows you to take output from applications that only support one desktop output, and divide it across up to three displays. I use it for running multiple projectors from an iMac for surface mapping.
