MXL 606 Reviews
Neutral and clear

I have 6 MXL 606's now- acquired incrementally over the last several years. I'm likely to buy more! I have used them with excellent results for snare, drum overhead x-y, bass kick drum, toms, acoustic guitar, electric guitar cabinets, bass guitar cabinets, concert 9' grand piano, all with excellent results running into a Focusrite 2i2 or 18i20. This mic is well suited to higher volume / percussive / fast transient sound sources.
Excellent close up instrument mic

This is an excellent close up instrument mic at a significant discount from it’s better known competitors. I primarily use two of them about 6” from the face of an acoustic guitar with the mics’ high pass filters on. The sound is clean and string with no boomy bass sounds.
