Link Electronics LOG-1864 Overview

The Link Electronics AFD LOG-1864 AFD Insert / Pass / Delete Card adds, detects, and deletes AFD (Active Format Description) data in the HD/SD SDI video signals. It also regenerates the video payload identifier (SMPTE 352M) that is used to describe the video formats. In addition, the AFD card auto detects incoming SD-SDI/HD-SDI signals and transmits re-clocked signal via 2 SDI outputs.

Suitable for use in video production and digital display systems, the device supports video signal formats such as 270 Mbps SD, 1.5Gbps HD, and 3 Gb/s HD video streams. With auto detection feature, the LOG-1864 AFD card can automatically detect SD and HD video standards, and convert them to the desired standards for transmission. The AFD data is keyed as vertical ancillary data on the user selected 8-21 video lines.

In Detect mode, the device checks for current AFD configurations while the Auto mode adds AFD configurations, in case there is no AFD present. The mode settings can be saved in flash for easy configuration.

Adds, detects, and deletes AFD (Active Format Description) data in the HD/SD SDI video signals
AFD (Active Format Description) - set of codes that helps DTV receivers, up/down converters to properly display the video signal in case of change in aspect ratio
Regenerates the video payload identifier (SMPTE 352M) for describing the video format
Auto detects incoming SD-SDI / HD-SDI signals and transmits re-clocked signal via 2 SDI outputs
Used in video production and digital display systems
Supports video signal formats such as 270 Mbps SD, 1.5Gbps HD, and 3 Gb/s HD video stream
4 Modes of operation - Detect, Insert, Delete, and Auto
Detect mode - checks for current AFD configurations
Auto mode - AFD configurations are added if they are absent
Inserts AFD data as vertical ancillary data on the user selected 8-21 video lines
Indicates signal presence and format on the display
Flash memory saves mode settings for easy configuration
