    Vello CS-BH1 reviews

Multi-Function Ball Head with Removable Top & Bottom Shoe Mounts is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 74.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vello for the Win I'm starting to really like the Vello brand, I've used their LCD screen protectors as well as their battery grips, both of which do their job very well, and this ball head is no exception. I use this for a camera top monitor, as well as combined with a Joby smartphone clamp and it does both functions very well. I don't feel like you could mount a Pro-DSLR with a 70-200mm lens on this, but then again why would you? For what I needed it for this works perfectly, 5/5 stars for sure. All metal parts with some rubberized coatings so it feels sturdy but won't scratch up your gear too much if it falls lose in your kit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really need to crank it For $14.95 I can't really complain too much. I got what I paid for, and it does work, but it fails to instill confidence. Attaching a rather lightweight Metz 44-AF1 flash to this ball head I really have to crank the cheap plastic handle down hard if I want it to hold position other than perfectly vertical or horizontal. I'm wary of snapping the plastic, but the alternative is under tightening and having my flash flop around. It's worth the price it if you are not planning much in the way of adjustment once your position is dialed in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little piece I use this product to put a GoPro on top of my dslr. So many clients want video with their stills these days that I consider this to be a way to put yet another recorder in the mix. This little ball head is very well constructed and advertised. I've used it for two day shoots so far and no complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid Ball Head I was hesitant to buy a brand I did not know at first & for the price I thought I'd give it a try. I am glad I gave it a shot & have since bought another Vello Ball Head & Vello Triple Shoe V-bracket. First thing I noticed was that it looks professional w/ a durable black finish & has a nice weight to it. I've only had this for a few weeks & could not imagine it breaking any time soon & if it did I'd probably buy another one. I am using it with a ROTOLIGHT on a light stand & with a shock-mount on-camera shoe so I can not verify how much weight it can hold but the knob on the side seems able to tighten well enough to hold some weight when tilted. It says it can hold 2.2 lbs. & it feels like it can. A great feature the Ball-Head has is that it has a shoe mount at the bottom that can be removed to reveal a female 1/4-20 screw hole & the top is a 1/4-20 male screw, both w/ plastic tightening wheels. I tried to find a con so far such as the Ball-Head itself reflects light but it was not an issue for me. If so a little Gaff tape would solve that. The only plastic parts are the 2 tightening wheels & knob & they seem very durable to last a while. Just as good as more expensive Ball-Heads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small package packs a big punch This was smaller than I thought but it's the perfect size to fit on my grip and much cheaper than spending $ + on a grip with a built-in ball head. This Vello product has removable plastic shoes top and bottom but the middle is all metal and very strong. There's a med/large wingnut on the back to adjust the ball that's very easy to grasp/use. I like the versatility of being able to remove the shoes and use the ball head for other things too. That makes it even more of a bargain! It took me a lot of searching to find this item and it's one of my best camera-related purchases yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good little ball head I always have a couple of these in my kit. whenever I need to hang a little camera in an odd spot... at the top of a C-stand, or on the end of a boom pole, to get an unusual angle I pull this little ball head out of my bag. It's not meant to hold a lot of weight, but I can hang a lipstick cam, a GoPro, or even my micro 4/3 LUMIX ...and set it at the angle I need. I also use them for a camera mounted mic or LED light. not really what it's meant for, but it works well!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not sturdy enough I am trying to attach a DN 60 portable video recorder to my camcorder. This multi-function ball head just doesn't do the job for me. The connections continued to come loose while mounted on the camera during panning and other camera movements. It's just not a solid piece of equipment that I can use with confidence that it won't allow my portable recording box to slide off and fall to the ground. Not suitable for heavy duty use with a bulky camcorder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Where I need it Use this with a Shoe V mount so I can mount my Zoom H6 on one shoe and wireless receiver on the other. Originally just have a shoe to 1/4, but had to keep looking up and over to see the Zoom unit, now with the Ball Head I can tilt and place the unit for the best viewing angle for my current need.
