This Sony Vertical Battery Grip will give you a firm hold on your a77, a77 II, or a99 II camera, reducing the strain on your wrists when you have long sessions shooting vertical photos. The shutter button is right at your fingertip, and controls are conveniently positioned for comfortable shooting. Made to be used with your Sony a77, a77 II, or a99 II DSLR camera, this vertical grip features a rugged design, gasket-sealed buttons to protect against dust and moisture, and a built-in compartment for two NP-FM500H InfoLITHIUM batteries (sold separately) for up to 1,060 shots. Plus, this grip automatically switches to backup battery power for uninterrupted shooting.

Comfortable and Ergonomic
A firm, comfortable grip for vertical-position shooting with the Sony Alpha a77, a77 II, or a99 II. Buttons and controls are conveniently placed and easy to reach for greater comfort.
Dual Batteries
Holds two InfoLITHIUM batteries for extended shooting (sold separately). Stamina power for up to 1,060 shots. The battery grip does not have a charging function, so the batteries would have to be charged using the camera body.
The rugged, but lightweight, body design has gasket-sealed controls to resist dust and moisture. The grip has a 1/4" tripod mount on the bottom.
Auto Switching Power
When using two batteries, the grip will automatically switch to the second battery if the first becomes depleted. Switching does not interrupt camera operation.
Accurate Battery Life Indicator
Accurate remaining power indicator shows remaining power in percentage. When using two batteries, indicators show which battery is being used and what percentage of life is left.

VG-C77AM Vertical Battery Grip for a77, a77 II, and a99 II is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended This is an outstanding compliment to the a77. In addition to the obvious which is comfortable vertical image taking facilitated by good positioning of the additional shutter button and other control buttons, the grip provides improved overall ergonomics even for landscape style images as the hand is better stabilized. The camera allows a reading of the status of both batteries and switch between them seamlessly as the first battery drains. It is well built, has a tripod connection at the bottom, and just like the a77 is also weather sealed. Most important, you don't need to remove the camera's battery door to connect/disconnect the grip so it takes just a second to put it on and take it off if so desired

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This grip completes the A77! The vertical battery grip for the A77 really completes the handling aspect of the camera, as well as providing double the battery power. I find the grip especially good when using the big, heavy, fast lenses (like the 70-200 2.8). With the grip, I can maintain my regular holding stance (with both elbows digging into my ribs) rather than the right-hand flap without it. The weight of the grip and batteries also acts as a counterbalance to the front-heaviness of a big lens, making it seem easier to hold (although the whole package is heavy). It also makes using the simple one-hand strap I prefer more secure.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As good as advertised Very high quality and as good as advertised. I was concerned about the size of the grip, because it seemed a bit large in pictures on the internet, but it looks good, fits the camera well and provides great balance on long lenses. The controls on the grip are also great for adjusting exposure in the vertical position. The position of the shutter release is great and allows comfortable shooting for long periods of time. Last but certainly not least, the grip doubles the time one can shoot because it holds two batteries and displays a meter for both. All in all, a great product. My only complaint is that the grip is pricey.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It belongs It just feels right. I leave it on permanently and turned on too. This way I can switch instantly from horizontal to vertical and don't worry about it. It looks a bit bulky and adds some weight of course, but it pays off by being ready for any situation anytime. However, and I don't know if it is just me or a common glitch, but sometimes, after recharging battery 1, the camera goes straight to battery 2 and it takes a few remove/install for battery 1 to be recognized again. Now, for the vain at heart, the look is a killer!!! Yes, you know you want it !! Also very nice to have twice the shooting time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition for the a77 This is a great addition for people who take lots of portrait or vertical pictures. Gives you great camera handling and allows you to keep both elbows close to your body, for good camera stabilization. All the main buttons are easily accessible since most of them are duplicated on the same position as they are on the camera. Also gives you the extra power of having the possibility of two batteries so you don't have to worry of getting out of power during a session. I really don't mind it being a little bit heavy. I can handle it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to the A77 This is a great addition to an existing loaded camera. Even though it does add some extra heft to the already 'durable' A77, it makes up for it by providing (at a bit of extra weight again) another battery pack inside the casing for double the use time without the need to reload and charge. It's main feature is of course to have all of the buttons and dials available and within easy reach when shooting vertical portraits or extended vertical use, such as for architecture, tall buildings, etc. There is also a very handy leather hand grip available which thoughtfully attaches the bottom strap to the vertical grip's anchor, taking off the strain on the right hand during extended photo shoots, and for also keeping a safe hold on the camera during transport. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it designed to Those grip does what it is designed to do. It enables comfortable operation in the portrait position. It allows the use of a second battery, thus extending the time you can keep shooting. As the battery life is fairly short on the A77, this is a major plus. The build is excellent, the same as the camera. The grip is also weather and dust sealed, again like the A77. The grip also duplicates the major controls of the camera, including both dial wheels and the joystick. Unfortunately the buttons are not in the exact position as the camera's controls, so you have to pay attention when using. Otherwise the design is good,as the grip is comfortable to use, despite it's relative bulk. all in all a great addition, which is a permanent fixture to my camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition . . . A full functioning vertical grip. As a Minolta to Sony convert, I must admit Sony continues to impress. Pro's: not too heavy and dual batteries is always a plus. Possible Con: On-off switch is small and not in the same location as on the camera (at the shutter button). Not major to me, but some my find it an issue. Of course, if you want a lighter, smaller camera, it may not be for you. Personally I prefer a camera with a little meat to grab onto and I do shoot a fair amount of verticals.
