Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart Investment Before I purchased my Zacuto Scorpion I had rented other rigs. I found while adjusting the eyepiece and through normal use the Cable ended up getting pulled and reefed in the camera's HDMI plug. Repairing the jack on a 5D is over $1100. When I bought my camera I didn't want the port destroyed or to loose my eyepiece in the middle of a shot. This addition works flawlessly. When the cable is locked in you could hold the camera from the HDMI cable. I use Zacuto's orientable cables which make the most sense even though they are expensive. For the weight, size, ease of use, and added value it is a no brainer purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must have for DSLR work This is a must have item from Zacuto if you are doing any kind of field work with DSLR cameras.I have spent the equivalent of a Canon 5D2 body just in repairs to the HDMI out on my camera. With this item you cannot budge the HDMI connector making it rock solid for even the most demanding of situations.I just wish zacuto had thought of this earlier and I would be a few grand richer.May not fit into other manufacturers rigs ie cages etc but could be adapted if need be. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but pricey This is a good piece of kit if you have the Zacuto DSLR baseplate and an external monitor or EVF, as it maintains the Zacuto styling and build quality. However it is very expensive for what it is even by Zacutos normal pricing (literally three little of bits of metal and four screws). Once set up and aligned it holds the HDMI cable effectively so it does it's job well. If you bust your HDMI connector on the camera you might as well buy a whole new camera, so this helps in keeping it safe. Because it's a simple piece of kit there are other much cheaper options which do just as good a job. However the Zacuto Pincher is good quality so I expect it will long outlast my camera bodies. So 4 stars for the product, but 1 star off for the ridiculous price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't get pinched Don't get fooled. Even with their cable the pincher does not hold the cable tight enough to prevent it from breaking. Sure, if you tug on the cable straight out to the side of the camera it will hold all day, but even slight movement in a lateral fashion will ruin it's hold. If you were to bump the cable away from the mouth of the cradle it could come out completely. This is going back and I will try something else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pricey but it works. I have to say it does work. It works best with their cable and/or a cable tht is not adapted from a regular HDMI. It is probably less expencive than fixing the camera if the HDMI is tuged too much. Do not tighten the Allen screws too much one of them stripped because of that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must If you want to protect your HDMI input the Pincher is a great solution. Zacuto prices may seem high, but I have found that the quality of their products are top notch. The Pincher can prevent a costly repair if you happen to damage your DSLR MDMI input.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheaper than others I ordered this along with the Zacuto 18 hdmi cable. They work well together and it's a good value to have. It holds your hdmi cable in place and the price is right rather than replacing the hdmi port from damage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good idea but not the perfect solution I ended up returning mine because it really didn't secure the cable as well as I thought it would. I opted for a different approach from SmallHD which gave me more confidence in the security of the cable.
