Cotton Carrier 766 NHP - 3316 Overview

The Cotton Carrier Universal Hubless Adapter Plate lets you combine an RC2 or Arca-type compatible quick-release plate – for mounting your camera on a tripod & head – with your existing Cotton Carrier quick-release Camera Hub that fits the receivers found on the manufacturer's vests and holsters.

Attach your video or photo head's quick-release plate to the to the Universal Hubless Adapter Plate via its standard 1/4"-20 thread and your Camera Hub to the adapter using the included Allen key & screw, and you'll have a double-quick-release plate that you can attach to your camera. You'll then be able to switch quickly between operating your camera on a head & tripod and carrying it on a vest or side holster system from Cotton Carrier.

It ultimately did work, BUT, there are many ways to attach it that did not work. Either the holster bracket would hit the tighten knob on my Sirui tripod, or it would hit the level on the other side. I thought I was going to have to grind off one side of my tripod bracket to make it work, but eventually I came up with a combination that allows both my holster bracket and my tripod bracket to coexist and function properly. So, don't give up....

I don't honestly know how this has such good reviews. Why does it get thick at the spot where the cotton carrier attachment goes? Unfortunately, as good as the Cotton Carrier is for carrying, it's not good if you want to ever use a tripod. That said, a standard L-plate or just any brand's long plate that has a 1/4-20 offset will work much better than this - I am using a 3LT l-bracket having returned this little adapter. I just don't understand why they made it so thick where the carrier attaches.

I have a Really Right stuff L bracket mounted to my camera all the time. Will I have to remove it to use the Cotton Carrier system?

Definitely can't do both at once, unless your L-bracket has screw mount holes drilled in it (some do). It's unfortunate because it's such a great system for carrying cameras, but its Achilles heel is the lack of tripod plate compatibility.

How does this compare to using a generic cheeseplate to add attachment points for the hub and the tripod head plate?

This plate is specifically designed for use with the cotton carrier hubs. I keep one attached to each of my camera bodies at all times along with the hub and a quick release plate for my tripod. Makes bolstering and unholstering and use of tripod a seamless process. Highly recommend you get one of these.

will this adapter plate work with Nikon Z when the FTZ is attached? In other words, does it get in the way of the FTZ?
