This was a well made aluminum base. It fit perfectly on my Savage 99, and this is about the only option for a 2-piece mount for that firearm. The only thing that I didn't like were the screws that came with the base. They were both slot head screws, and the heads stripped very easily at less that 20 in-lbs of torque. I ordered some torx head screws to replace them.
