question
Does it have 2 screws at the bottom of both ends for safety? This is a safety feature that avoids sliding of the camera when the QR clamp is not tight.
The safety feature are those two little red things you see in the picture. You rotate them up, attach the camera body via the big sliding screw that you also see in the picture. snug the body up against the now raised little red thingies, and tighten the big screw. What those red things do is to prevent the body from rotating. There are NO other screws on this QR plate. If you do not tighten the QR clamp properly on most tripod heads, the risk is not just rotation, but that the whole camera body and QR clamp will fall off! I have Gitzo head which require you to snap the QR plate into place. Thus, even if you then forget to engage the tightening lever, you are pretty well protected from having a disaster. The Gitzo qr plates that I have do not van the feature that this particular QR plate has - namely to prevent rotation. Really Right Stuff plates have a revised lip against which you snug up the camera body to prevent rotation. They are also very good. Other QR plates may have an equivalent feature.
