The black Hand Grip Strap for DSLR from Vello assures you of a firm grasp of your camera while out shooting. The padded hand cushion is comfortable and provides support when the shot appears. Rather than have your camera dangling from a long strap, this hand grip keeps your DSLR firmly in your hand so when you're ready to shoot, all you need to do is raise the camera to eye level and shoot. It attaches to your camera by first attaching its plastic plate with 1/4-20 thumb screw to your camera's tripod socket. Then, by back buckling the other end to your camera's strap lug, it locks into place. The strap is easy to install or remove and comes with a one-year warranty from Vello.

Hand Grip Strap for DSLR (Black) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value The hand strap was easy to install and is pretty comfortable. A great improvement from the neck strap that came with my Canon 7D (I do not currently use a battery grip). I thought that with the strap securing to the tripod mount I wouldn't have the option to use a tripod with the strap installed, but I was pleasantly surprised to note that the attachment accepts a mounting bracket. The comparable Canon product is nearly 4 times as much so eventhough that product may be a subtle improvement, for the cost, the Vello product is the best value. I also like how the bottom bracket allows the camera to sit level on a surface. The Canon hand straps looks as though it would not sit securely on a flat surface.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic neck strap alternative I hate...no, I LOATHE neck straps. Seriously, everything about them is, quite literally, a pain in the neck. They are stiff, scratchy, and uncomfortable. And if you're a pro like me spending a long day shooting, you're likely to need a visit to the chiropractor after schlepping your camera around by the neck strap. I've gotten in the habit of just wrapping the strap around my forearm and wrist and just carrying my camera, so when I saw this hand grip, I figured I'd give it a try. Works like a charm! It's secure, comfortable, and sturdy. An excellent alternative for anyone who is a fellow neck strap hater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Hand Grip I have this product on my Nikon 3200. It keeps the camera in my hand securely. I don't have a long strap around my neck and fear I may drop it or have the strap in my way when shooting photos. I love that it holds the camera securely in my hand and gives me a better grip on my camera. For those who want to use the neck strap as well it still allows you to use both. It screws into the bottom where a tripod would screw in but there is still a spot to attach the tripod. The only thing I don't like is that when I need to change my battery I have to unscrew it from the bottom so I can get to where my battery goes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handy gadget I don't like using a camera strap so I thought the hand grip strap would be perfect. When I received it the cording was threaded backwards so I had to change that. I also found it easier to install screwing the bottom in first rather than attaching the top, just the opposite of directions. It was easily installed, fits my hand well (I have very small hands) and I am still able to reach all my dials and buttons. I was unhappy when using it in conjunction with my tripod plate, it doesn't secure well. Although it is easy to detach the hand grip and then mount the camera on the tripod, it is somewhat of a nuisance. Over all the product does what it claims and provides support and security when holding your camera.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice grip; doesn't work for the Sony A7 B&H included this grip with the Sony A7. It's a comfortable-feeling grip, but not ideal for the A7. When installed, one of the the metal bracket continuously knocks into the top of the camera. The bottom of the grip screws into the tripod mount and has a small lip to keep the bracket from unscrewing. Unfortunately the lip stops the screen from flipping out. If the grip is compatible with your camera, it's a nice one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Inexpensive Strap This was a great purchase. Using a hand grip strap gives me peace of mind. I don't worry as much about droping a very expensive camera. It stays on the camera at all times and still attaches to a tripod. It is also completely comfortable to wear for long periods of time--so much so that I rarely use a neckstrap anymore. It took me a while to install and adjust but I'm not very good at figuring out those straps.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from eh... Wasn't sure if this was going to work or not for me but for a few bucks was worth the try. I wanted something to work in conjunction with my Black Rapid strap. It didn't. The plastic plate that attaches to the bottom doesn't allow for anything else to be attached. Rendering the Black Rapid unusable. And if it was able to attach I don't know if I would trust the handstrap not to break with the extra pressure on it. Packing was good, the product itself seemed ok build wise. I'm not going to return it because it wasn't that much and i'll just throw it on one of my film cameras that is missing a strap. I can see it's worth but definitely not pro. What did I expect for $12 or whatever I paid for it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adequate grip, but a little smelly Just started shooting video with a DLSR (5Dm3) and have hated the neck strap from day 1. I wanted to try a hand strap and chose this one for the price and other mostly positive reviews. This one does exactly what I need it to do - provide a good grip on the camera without impeding access to all of the buttons. I love the freedom the hand grip provides over the neck strap and will never go back. I was able to quickly adjust it to fit my hand and if you attach it correctly it is very secure and won't slip during use. My only cons with this grip is that the nylon strap feels too narrow and the cushioning a little thin, but those are details. I'm also a little put off by the odor, which smells like a heavy smoker once owned it. That's probably due to the materials used and should dissipate over time. Overall, this is an adequate product if you are looking to try a hand strap for your DSLR.
