With model options starting 8 TB, EditBox EB8Sx is capable of scaling capacity to over 100 TB or RAID-5 protected storage in a simple yet elegant desktop solution. Powered by a next generation 8x PCI-Express storage controller, the EB8Sx is designed to fully support editing, grading and VFX environments where performance, high data reliability and expandability are essential.
The EditBox EB8Sx features a wide-port SAS expansion design that accommodates various connection and configuration modes - allowing users to quickly optimize their storage needs. Equipped with three 4x SFF8088 connection ports, the EB8Sx can be customized to support one 4x host and two 4x data channels for full expansion capabilities up to 12 additional EB8Sx arrays, or two 4x host channels and one 4x expansion data channel capable of up to 6 additional EB8Sx arrays. It also supports native split-bus connectivity to existing EB8MS disk arrays (requires compatible PCI-e RAID controller), bringing new life to near-full or aging arrays.
Featuring a native internal 3G SAS design, the EB8Sx offers users the choice to use cost-effective SATA disks for most media applications or Enterprise SAS hard disks for DI and full resolution HD grading requirements. Harness the power to play, render and a high-performance Intel RAID core (Solution models only) delivers an excess of over 700 MB/s of storage bandwidth (requires compatible PCI-e RAID controller), ideal for the most demanding 10-bit HD and 2K workflows. EditBox EB8Sx supports DVCProHD, ProRes 422(HQ), ProRes444, uncompressed 8-bit 1080i HD, uncompressed 10-bit HD (4:4:4) and 2K DPX/TGA file sequences.
Storage manageability is extended through protocols such as SES and S.M.A.R.T data reporting for real-time monitoring of disk, power supply, and temperature status all though one convenient web-based management screen. The EditBox EB8Sx supports SMTP Email notification features (requires a compatible PCI-e RAID controller) allowing users to quickly and easily identify system related issues before a major problem arises.
