I'm using this as a flexible reading lamp holder and it works great.

I designed a custom work light holder using this gooseneck. Relatively speaking it can hold quite a bit of weight and stays were it is put. The black finish is exactly the look I was hoping for. B&H had the best online price including shipping at the time of my purchase. The threads are 5/8-27. If you repurpose the gooseneck as I did, you'll need a way to deal with this. I had access to a lathe to cut my own interface plate.
