National Optical & Scientific Instruments' 162-ASC Binocular Compound Oil Immersion Microscope is a mid-range microscope designed for use in university and research laboratory settings. Sporting a number of features, in addition to the ASC objectives, the device is accurate, tough, and backed by a limited lifetime warranty from the manufacturer.
The optical system centers around the aforementioned 4x, 10x, 40xR, and 100xR oil immersion objectives. All are parfocalled, parcentered, and color-coded. Making changes between the lenses is easy thanks to the 4-hole, ball-bearing mounted, objective turret. Additional features of the system include widefield 10x binocular eyepieces that sit at a 30° incline on the 360° rotatable viewing head.
Halogen illumination provides a clear, accurate view of specimens. A variable rheostat control, illuminated on/off switch, a 0.5A time delay fuse and more ensure a safe and functional system. Additionally, coaxial coarse and fine focusing controls sit low on the 162-ASC. Safety features, such as tension adjustment and a safety rack stop work to keep the microscope and slides safe from damage.
