The National Optical & Scientific Instruments 166-ASC Trinocular Compound Oil Immersion Microscope is designed for use at the university level. Featuring ASC objectives, Koehler type illumination, and more, the 166-ASC is a versatile and reliable microscope for research.
The optical system of the 166-ASC centers around the 4x, 10x, 40xR, and 100xR oil immersion ASC objectives. All are parfocalled, parcentered, and color-coded. A 5-hole objective turret allows for smooth, precise magnification changes, while the 360° rotatable viewing head permits sharing. The microscope has binocular eyepieces set at a 30° incline, and a verticle monocular tube for adding optional SLR or video adapters.
Twelve volt, 20 watt halogen Koehler type illumination ensures that specimens are easy to view. A light house with filter holder provides clear, blue, green, and yellow filters. Coaxial coarse and fine focusing controls sit low on the microscope. Safety features like a tension adjustment and safety rack stop prevent damage to the system.
