Key Features
  • 20x Magnification
  • Widefield 10x Eyepiece
  • 45° Inclined Viewing Head
  • Head Rotates 360°
The National Optical and Scientific Instruments Model 185 Compound Microscope is an ideal introductory microscope. Because it provides an upright and unreversed image it's easy for younger students to see and understand the specimen they're viewing, not to mention manipulate its placement. Another key aspect to the 185's ease-of-use is that there are no lights or mirrors needed to see a bright, sharp image.

The 185 has a 2x objective lens with a widefield 10x eyepiece. The viewing head is inclined 45° and rotates 360° for sharing with multiple students. Rack and pinion focusing, along with a slip clutch, make it safe for students to focus the microscope on their own. Other highlights include stage clips for securing the specimen, an all-metal frame, non-skid rubber feet, and portability.
