The Teradek Cube 100/400 1Ch HD-SDI HDMI Encoder/Decoder Combo is a small, very lightweight, camera-mount video streaming solution that sends and receives HD or SD video.
The Cube-100 Encoder has HD-SDI input and wired Ethernet output. The Cube-400 Decoder has HDMI output and wired Ethernet input. The 100 streams over Ethernet directly to the 400. (It can also stream to a computer, a server, or a mobile device.) The Cube-100 also has an external USB port for supported 3G/4G modems.
The 100 uses advanced H.264 high profile (Level 4.1) video compression, and has a built-in scaler that converts from 1080 to 720, 576, and 480 resolutions. Resolution and bit rate can be chosen based on the availability of IP bandwidth. The 400 is compatible with the H.264 compression, and the combo offers end-to-end latency of approximately 1/8-1/2 second.
Each Cube is about the size of a deck of cards, weighs 7 oz and mounts easily to a rail system, cage, hotshoe, or camera baseplate. Each uses only 2.5W - 3.8W of DC power. The Cubes have been tested extensively and successfully with RED ONE, Arri Alexa, Panavision Genesis, Canon 5Dii and 7D, and various handi-cams. (Cube is not compatible with RED ONE's HDMI output as its output is non-standard. Cube does work with RED ONE's HD-SDI.)
The Cubes can easily be set up via a convenient Setup Wizard that helps with configuration from connecting video to streaming it.
