The Puffin Pad Lens Support with Tether Kit is an innovative, lightweight alternative to using a beanbag to support a long telephoto lens. The Puffin Pad is constructed of closed-cell foam, and a 1/2" deep memory foam top adopts the shape of your lens barrel.
The bottom of the pad has a round groove that gives way to a deeper slot. The first level is for straddling a relatively slim object such as the top of a gate or a car door with the window down. The deeper slot is for mounting your lens and the attached camera body directly onto a half-rolled window. For shooting from flat surfaces, you can flip over the Puffin Pad and nestle the lens into the wide groove.
The included Tether Kit includes a mounting bracket that attaches a 30" breakaway lanyard to the Puffin Pad. This allows you to transport the Puffin Pad hands-free by hooking the lanyard to a belt loop, backpack, carabineer, etc. You can also use the Tether Kit to secure your Puffin Pad to an erratically moving vehicle, attaching it to a boat rail or roll bar.
The Puffin Pad is also appropriate for supporting small camcorders and cameras with shorter telephoto lenses.
