Sunwayfoto DB-36 Ball Head

The Sunwayfoto DB-36 Ball Head is an extremely sturdy ball head with an Arca-style clamp, for compatibility with a wide variety of dovetail camera plates. The DB-36 features separate controls for pan lock, tilt lock, and friction, and there are dual tilt grooves to accommodate switching to portrait orientation as well as full 90° front-to-back tilt without needing to alter the head's pan position.

Like other higher-end ball heads, the DB-36 features an ellipsoidal ball that helps it better handle off-center loads – this shape introduces progressive resistance to reduce accidents. But for smoother operation, the aspherical nature of the ball is subtler than that of other heads – the y-axis diameter is only 0.03mm longer than the x-axis diameter (other similar heads typically have a disparity of 0.07mm). The DB-36 supports loads up to 39.6 lb.

Rigorous testing has resulted in a very strong shell. The control knobs of the DB-36 are 100% metal – no plastic or rubber is used. This ensures a smooth operation as well as reliability and durability.

Well-marked components facilitate precise positioning. The tilt lock knob is laser-engraved with marks from 1 to 12, and the pan base features laser-engraved degree markers in increments of 5°. These, combined with the independence of the pan and tilt locks, make the DB-36 well-suited for capturing horizontally overlapping photos in order to create panoramas.
