The Cineroid EVF Metal Viewfinder with HDMI In and SDI Out provides an eyepiece view, or, at the flip or removal of the eyepiece, an LCD view, and can be used with large camcorders as well as with DSLRs.
The eyepiece can be flipped open 180° to reveal a 3.2" LCD, or it can be detached completely. Atop the eyepiece is a diopter adjuster. Resolution is 800x480. The EVF takes a camera signal by an HDMI input, and it outputs to a preview monitor by an SDI output. A speaker is built-in to the rear of the EVF and can be used for monitoring audio being captured, but a 3.5mm headphone jack is also built in and allows optional headphones to be used for monitoring audio. Another 3.5mm jack is available for an optional remote control.
A great way of mounting the EVF is by articulating arm, but it can also be mounted onto camera hot-shoes and tripods via an included mini shoe-mount adapter. The EVF has a 1/4"-20 threaded hole at its bottom.
In addition to dedicated menu buttons, the EVF has quick-access buttons that its many features, such as peaking, can be programmed into.
- Helps with focus by outlining the edges of focused subjects
- The EVF features two types of peaking: white and red outlines
- Indicates with "lines" whether exposure has gone beyond/below trigger points
- Trigger points are assignable per a threshold measurement displayed on-screen
- Defines highly-overexposed areas by pasting them with dramatic colors
- Reveals exposure by displaying subjects in limited colors
- The EVF features two different types of false color settings
- Changes the ratio of an image distorted by an anamorphic lens so to display the image properly
- The EVF features pre-defined ratios but ratios can also be adjusted manually
- Darkens portions of the viewing area to help frame a shot in accordance with what it will look like when later cropped to be viewed in different aspect ratios
- Zooms into and displays a portion of an image with every pixel that the portion was captured in even if it was captured in a resolution higher than that of the EVF's
- Displays an image in grayscale
- Slightly shrinks an image to reveal the edges of its frame; useful for certain production objectives
- Displays on screen the audio levels captured
(A speaker and headphone jack are available for monitoring captured audio)
- Rotates an image in various ways to support different vertical and horizontal mounting options
- The EVF has quick-access buttons that the above features can be programmed into
