The Giottos AA1271 VGR Monopod Hand Strap is a flexible nylon safety strap that threads through a built-in bracket on the center column of available Giottos' VGR 8265/9264/9265 tripods. When the center column is used as a monopod, the strap provides a loop to slip your hand through. This can help stop the center column from falling if you accidentally lose your grip.
I like having a wrist strap when using a monopod, and this is a great addition to the Giottos VGR 9265 that is still my go-to tripod when small-and-light or dual-use is the requirement (I'm pleased to say it was one of my first great deals from B&H some years ago). Be aware that there are two sizes: this one, the AA1271, is for the larger series (28mm center column); the AA1270 is for the smaller set of tripods in the VGR series. It comes with an o-ring that keeps it up at the top of the column so the collar will pivot around and keep it easy to point your setup wherever you want without making the strap a factor. The strap is narrow (about 5/8" or 1.5cm), but it does the job and isn't intrusive during tripod operations. It has an easily adjustable buckle if you want to close up for a tight fit, or expand it when wearing gloves. It blends in with the 'pod and looks professional. It's an inexpensive addition which adds a lot to the security of the monopod function when you can't have a foam grip at the top of a dual-use column setup like this.
