The Heliopan 82mm Variable Gray ND Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing a reduction of about 1 to 6 stops. The 0.3 to 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, allowing you to previsualize the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image.

This filter features a brass mounting ring that is painted matte black to help reduce reflections. High quality Schott glass provides optical clarity and greater contrast to help render scenes with greater fidelity and resolution. This filter does not have front threads for attaching other filters.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.

82mm Variable Gray ND Filter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ideal for medium focal length Using it with DLSR's mainly in video. First tried on the Canon 24-70 Version II and it maintained sharpness as well as color rendition. Also purchased step down ring for all lenses, Zeiss and Canon. At wider focal length's opened up ,i.e 28mm and below at f2.8 and below it produces dark butterfly lines when using the maximum ND strength. Expected because of the rotating filter mechanism. Originally returned the first copy because it felt like the filter was rolling out of position when run and gun, second copy was better but would prefer a much stiffer rolling action. Markings are a huge help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 82mm Heliopan Variable ND Filter I bought this ND variable filter to use with my Sony NEX FS100 HD camera and Canon 16-35mm f2.8 L lens. It's expensive, but one of the only filters that does not produce any color shifting or distortion. Well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've used the Tiffen and the Hoya and... I can't tell you how much more I recommend this one over others. I've used this with my RED Dragon and Zeiss Milvus lenses and have been very happy with the results. If you're looking for the best variable-ND you can find, Heliopan is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Variable ND Filter! Paired this with the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens. This is made with Zeiss glass and you can really see the difference with other variable ND filters (no color casting versus the rest!) Typically ND filters cause loss of sharpness when but images produced with the heliopan are nice and sharp!
