The Atlas 10 is a 35" mini-dolly accompanied by add-on, adjustable all-terrain legs. The Atlas 10 itself is designed with a ball bearing system that very smoothly slides a DSLR rig of up to 40 lb in any possible direction -- sideways, forward, backward, up, down, panoramically, and at angles. Its all-terrain legs allow it to stand firm and leveled on various types of surfaces. The Atlas 10 can also very effectively be used as a crane when attached to a tripod, and can optionally be transformed into a counter-balanced vertical pulley system.
Like the Atlas, the Manfrotto 502HD Head is also designed for smooth operation and is as well a well-thought-out and well-constructed device. It features Manfrotto's patented bridging technology that ensures pan friction control is intuitive and protected from knocks. Among other features are independent locks for pan and for tilt, as well as continuously adjustable drag for each.
