Bower SX7DGN overview

  • 1Description

Add some versatility to your existing Nikon F-mount lens collection with this 2x DGII Teleconverter from Bower, which contains 7 elements to ensure sharp imagery. This teleconverter utilizes multi-coated optics that will double the effective focal length of your F lens, for example it will convert an 85mm lens to 170mm. This doubling effect has a light loss of about 2 stops, meaning an f/1.4 lens will become an f/2.8 lens. Additionally, this teleconverter offers full communication between the lens and camera to enables autofocus and other electronically controlled functions.

    Bower SX7DGN reviews

2x DGII Teleconverter with 7 Elements for Nikon F is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from a very nice addition This is a very good, reasonably priced teleconverter that I now take on all trails for nature photos. Mounting seemed a bit tight at first, but now is familiar and quick. I've used it on my D700 with both appropriate (>70mm, max ap of at least 4) and inappropriate (35mm, zoom with max ap of 5.6) lenses, and it's worked very well except for lack of crisp focus on the 35mm, for which it was not designed. I was very pleased with the sharp focus (manual, of course) on a 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 zoom lens at full extension in full sun, even though that is not a recommended lens type. AF on appropriate lenses works well & quickly, and metering etc. carries through fine for me especially in low/med light. One tip though is when shooting in full daylight, be sure to take another shot at lower EV, since otherwise the image you get at what the meter shows as ideal exposure may in fact be too bright. This TC for my amateur use certainly beats carrying the weight or expense of a super telephoto.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product, What I expected I find this product works best with a tripod, on manual focus, and I even use a wireless remote with it to help steady the lens when the teleconverter is attached. Autofocus can have its moments where it struggles if there's a lot of noise in the area (I mostly do nature photography). I have shot handheld photos with this product but moving subjects aren't going to come out clear, only still subjects will come out decent. The teleconverter definitely added the extra reach I wanted but does lose a hint of clarity and isn't good in low light situations. Overall, I got exactly what I expected and definitely enjoy using this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2x DGII Teleconverter with 7 Elements for Nikon F by Bower Researched the product and from what I read in various sites it sounded like exactly what I wanted. B&H shipped promptly w/o any problems. However, upon receiving it and trying it out I was extremely disappointed. Did not function anywhere near what I expected so contacted B&H to take advantage of their return policy. So far the payment has not been authorized, but I anticipate no problems. I will definitely buy from them in the future as I have done in the past.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product I purchased this product for use with my Nikon 105 prime lens but have found it to work just fine with my all my Nikon lens including my 18 to 200 dx lens. This is especially useful when using my 24 t0 120 as it makes it more of a travel lens. The picture quality with the 2X converter does not appear to suffer to much with the tele converter lens. Auto focus works quite well at F8.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product for the cost Works well. Better quality than I was expecting. Made in Japan. I have to use manual focus with this lens.
