I don't know why this isn't mentioned in the item info, but this adapter acts as a lens extender for full-frame lenses. This adapter should be used with Canon APS-C lenses. A full-frame zoom lens at 50mm lens looks more like 90mm with this adapter. That's great for interviews - but you're screwed if you need a wide shot.

Does this adapter allow me to adjust the iris?
It shouldn't interfere with manual iris adjustment unless you are relying on a camera body adjustment to affect the lens. I use the Photodiox EF/EFS adaptor (info hopefully attached). It enables auto iris adjustment, although it can be a bit inaccurate/slow when shooting video.
