The Letus35 MCS Shoulder Cam Bundle for Canon 5D and 7D with Powered Cage, SmallHD DP4 EVF Mount, and Follow Focus was specifically developed for shoulder-mounted filming. Based off of the designs of 35mm Panavision camera rigs, the Shoulder Cam closely mimics the feeling of working with a 35mm camera. Since the camera is meant to rest on your shoulder, it especially convenient to use an EVF while working with this rig. Further resulting from the camera being positioned on your shoulder, not in front of you, the fulcrum point is moved to a fixed position. This permits you to pivot in order to pan during shots, versus making full body rotations that can result in rolling shutter wobble.
The 5D/7D Powered Cage, from which everything else attaches to, is CNC milled aluminum and hard anodized for durability. The cage design incorporates numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 sockets across the entire cage for a large variety of accessory mounting options. In addition to the standard functionality of a camera cage, this cage regulates power in your Canon 5D or 7D through a custom battery dongle that is inserted into the camera. The dongle is hidden within the cage to maintain a sleek, low profile while shooting. This power can be utilized with the start/stop button integrated into the cage as well as with a programmable infrared remote transmitter. Power is supplied to the cage through a 2 pin LEMO style to D-tap connector, which is compatible with standard Gold Mount or V-Mount battery plates.
The EVF knuckle is compatible with the SmallHD DP4 EVF and helps to mimic the feeling of a proper viewfinder, as with the use of a 35mm camera. The EVF is easily mounted to a quick release plate, providing simple attachment and removal from the entire knuckle. Precision alignment is possible with the use of an adjustable fluid drag pivot point, allowing tension adjustment as well as forward, backward, side-to-side, and up and down tilting movements.
A follow focus is included with this bundle, providing you with a highly accurate, ergonomic solution for pulling focus. The Letus follow focus is entirely custom built to precise specifications and features CNC milled anodized aluminum and stainless steel components. The gearbox is reversible and allows you to mount the system to either side of the lens or to have the focus wheel rotate in either direction depending on your preference for pulling focus. The mounting bracket is compatible with 15mm rods and features a quick release for simple attachment and removal without having to break down your kit.
The V-mount baseplate acts as the foundation for the entire platform and serves as the connection between the camera and any other mount. It is machined from high grade aluminum and stainless steel that is hard anodized for even greater durability. The unique V-mount design permits a quick, intuitive system for mounting and integrates a safety pin to prevent accidental disengaging of the plate.
Also included is the MCS Camera Interface Plate. The camera interface plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and is the mounting platform for attaching your camera to the quick release base of the cage. Included with the 5D/7D Shoulder Cam bundle is the standard plate, which is designed for DSLR-sized cameras and provides support for a rear stabilizer. It is also machined from high grade aluminum and anodized for additional strength.
Other accessories included with the bundle are a dove tail, a quick release clamp, a clamp to rod adapter, a rail to hot shoe adapter, a top/back handle, 2 T-handles and a clamp, a pair of T-handle hybrid rods, 2x 18" / 45.7cm stainless steel base rods, a pair of 9" / 22.9cm black rods, a rear stabilizer, an Anton Bauer compatible plate, a shoulder pad, and a padded long weight. These pieces work together in establishing a strong camera rig system that provides a multitude of mounting options for accessories and other tools.
