Letus35 LTMCS-ST-1DXC Overview

The Letus35 MCS Studio Cam Bundle for Canon 1D X and 1D Mark IV with Cineroid Metal EVF Mount was specifically developed for tripod-mounted shooting with an EVF. Integrating an EVF leveling system, this bundle permits the camera operator to tilt the camera up and down with minimal movement of the EVF. By keeping the viewfinder stationary, less head movement is necessary and a more simplistic and efficient workflow is possible. This entire design mimics the time-tested setup of a studio 35mm camera, but caters to the lightweight and more portable aspects of a DSLR setup.

The 1D X/1D Mark IV Cage, from which everything else attaches to, is CNC milled aluminum and hard anodized for durability. The cage design incorporates numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 sockets across the entire cage for a large variety of accessory mounting options.

The EVF knuckle is compatible with the Cineroid Metal EVF and helps to mimic the feeling of a proper viewfinder, as with the use of a 35mm camera. The EVF is easily mounted to a quick release plate, providing simple attachment and removal from the entire knuckle. Precision alignment is possible with the use of an adjustable fluid drag pivot point, allowing tension adjustment as well as forward, backward, side-to-side, and up and down tilting movements.

Working in close collaboration with the EVF knuckle, the eyepiece leveler permits the EVF to remain relatively level while tilting the camera up and down when it is mounted to a tripod. The leveler attaches to the knuckle via the quick release bracket and allows you to obtain the best position for the EVF during use. The leveler is connected to the tripod using a base bracket that is threaded for the included O'Connor tripod head.

The V-mount baseplate acts as the foundation for the entire platform and serves as the connection between the camera and any other mount. It is machined from high grade aluminum and stainless steel that is hard anodized for even greater durability. The unique V-mount design permits a quick, intuitive system for mounting and integrates a safety pin to prevent accidental disengaging of the plate.

Also included is the MCS Camera Interface Plate. The camera interface plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and is the mounting platform for attaching your camera to the quick release base of the cage. Included with the 1D X/1D Mark IV Studio Cam bundle is the standard plate, which is designed for DSLR-sized cameras and provides support for a rear stabilizer. It is also machined from high grade aluminum and anodized for additional strength.

Other accessories included with the bundle are a dove tail, a quick release clamp, a clamp to rod adapter, 2 top/back handles, 2x 18" / 45.7cm stainless steel base rods, a pair of 9" / 22.9cm black rods, a rear stabilizer, 2 Anton Bauer compatible plates, and a standard counter weight. These pieces work together in establishing a strong camera rig system that provides a multitude of mounting options for accessories and other tools.

1D X/1D Mark IV Non-Powered Cage
The cage is built from CNC milled high grade aluminum that is hard anodized for further durability. Featuring numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 sockets, this cage permits mounting a large variety of accessories to the cage as well as being able to easily mount the cage to other platforms. It is highly durable and lightweight, weighing just over a pound; this cage is easy to maneuver and provides protection to your camera body.
MCS EVF Knuckle with Quick Release
The EVF knuckle is compatible with the Cineroid Metal EVF and helps to mimic the feeling of a proper viewfinder, as with the use of a 35mm camera. The EVF is easily mounted to a quick release plate, providing simple attachment and removal from the entire knuckle. Precision alignment is possible with the use of an adjustable fluid drag pivot point, allowing tension adjustment as well as forward, backward, side-to-side, and up and down tilting movements.
MCS Eyepiece Leveler
The eyepiece leveler permits the EVF to remain relatively level while tilting the camera up and down when it is mounted to a tripod. The leveler attaches to the knuckle via the quick release bracket and allows you to obtain the best position for the EVF during use. The leveler is connected to the tripod using a base bracket that is threaded for the included O'Connor tripod head. This design is common in 35mm studio camera setups, but has been ported to a smaller format camera to combine strong features from each format.
MCS Baseplate
The V-mount baseplate acts as the foundation for the entire platform and serves as the connection between the camera and any other mount. It is machined from high grade aluminum and stainless steel that is hard anodized for even greater durability. It features a single 1/4"-20 thread and 4x 3/8"-16 threads. The unique V-mount design permits a quick, intuitive system for mounting and integrates a safety pin to prevent accidental disengaging of the plate.
MCS Camera Interface Plate
The camera interface plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and is the mounting platform for attaching your camera to the quick release base of the cage. Included with the 1D X/1D Mark IV Studio Cam bundle is the standard plate, which is designed for DSLR-sized cameras and provides support for a rear stabilizer. It is also machined from high grade aluminum and anodized for additional strength.
MCS Rear Stabilizer
Providing a secondary stabilization point, the rear stabilizer sits behind the baseplate on the camera interface plate. It is ported for use with standard 15mm rods and attaches to the camera interface plate through a simple wedge design that catches the stainless steel post within the stabilizer. By doing this, the camera operator can fine tune the amount of tension on the camera interface plate and achieve an extremely solid mount of the camera.
Anton Bauer Gold Mount
The gold mount is an interchangeable battery system that uses 3 solid mechanical connections and self-cleaning gold-plated connection pins, providing uninterrupted power to your camera and electronic accessories. This battery plate allows you to choose whichever battery chemistry you prefer as well as new chemistries as they are developed. The plate is compatible with several different components of the camera rig, including the camera interface plate.
MCS Standard Counter Weight
This standard counter weight weighs 5lb / 2.3kg and is machined from CNC milled steel. It features 15mm ports for perpendicular mounting to support rods as well as being tapped with several 1/4"-20 holes for further accessory mounting. It also features 3 stainless steel posts, similar to an Anton Bauer plate, that allow you to mount to a gold mount plate in place of a battery.
MCS Top Dovetail
The dovetail is typically mounted to the camera cage and provides flexible positioning for the quick release clamp. Outfitted with 1/4"-20 mounting holes along the border of the dovetail, it can be mounted and easily aligned on a variety of bases.
MCS Top Quick Release Clamp
Designed to work quickly and efficiently with the dovetail, the quick release clamp allows for system modifications on the fly. It is perfect for mounting accessories such as an extra handle or a remote for a follow focus above the lens and having them be easily accessible. The design also integrates a blind attachment system, allowing you to simply push the quick release onto the dovetail for connection instead of having to use two hands or precisely line it up for proper attachment.
MCS Top Clamp to Rails Adapter
This adapter works in conjunction with the quick release clamp and provides simple attachment of two standard 15mm rods to the top clamp. The rods are necessary for use with iris rods and a remote follow focus. This adapter brings flexibility to where you can mount your accessories by making use of the quick release and dovetail.
MCS Top Iris Rods
These 9" / 22.9cm rods are an industry-standard 15mm in diameter and provide mounting accessibility for a follow focus and other accessories. They are made from hard anodized aluminum for durability and smoothness of use.
MCS Top/Back Handle
These handles provide a versatile grip point that can be mounted to the standard 15mm rods for a large variety of placement options. Featuring a stainless steel rosette pivot plate, the handles can be rotated and locked in 30° increments. They are CNC milled from high grade billet aluminum and feature a silicon grip for extra comfort and durability.
MCS Stainless Steel Base Rods
These 18" / 45.7cm stainless steel rods are tapered on both ends for easy insertion into clamps and for easy attachment and removal of accessories. The stainless steel construction allows them to be highly durable and are more dent and bend-resistant than aluminum rods.
