The Germanium Pre Amp/DI from Chandler Limited is a single-channel microphone preamp that utilizes vintage-style germanium transistors, which help it achieve a variety of sounds. Gain and Feedback knobs are provided for setting levels and achieving various tones, as is a Thick button and a -20dB pad button. The Thick button brings out a subtle amount of low end in the signal, and the pad attenuates the input, making it possible to capture loud sounds, such as a cranked-up guitar amp. The pad is also useful for shaping other kinds of sounds.
