    Watson BP-819 reviews

    BP-819 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.4V, 1750mAh) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good - Def need it. It's a lot better than the battery that came w/ my HF M300 Canon Vixia. It lasted about 1 hr. 20 minutes. The original battery lasted about 30 minutes. It is about 15 minutes better than the extra battery I bought for my old Canon HV 40.Needless to say, if you are going to do any video beyond range of an electric outlet, you will need at least one of these. If I were rich, I would buy 5 more.I wrote the review because B&H offered to put me in a drawing for$ gift card. But obviously my comments are generic and not meant to over-hype this product. Everyone knows u need extra batteries w/ camcorders. Sort of strange that Canon doesn't just put 2 of these in the box instead of the lame small one they give ya.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Had charging issues I may have gotten a defective battery, but it did not charge properly. When using the Pearstone AC/DC charger, the charge light would always be green (meaning fully charged), even when the battery was dead. Also, when charging in my camcorder, sometimes it would stop halfway through charging, and the power light would blink rapidly (which means there was a problem with the charging according to the manual). After removing and reinserting the battery, I was able to finish charging. I had no problems using this battery; only charging. The record time was long, and the battery performed well, but the charge issues were unacceptable, so I returned the battery and I will likely buy the more expensive genuine Canon brand battery. The Canon battery that came with the camcorder has no charging problems in either the Pearstone charger or the camcorder.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Glad to have I haven't used this much yet, so the jury is still out. I do know that according to my camera, this replacement battery is not supposed to be able to be charged while in the camera. Well, I tried it out because I didn't want to spend even more money on a charger...and it worked! It doesn't fit super-snug in my camera, meaning it jiggles around a bit unlike the Canon battery. But considering the Canon battery is also very small and doesn't last long, I knew I would need a backup battery. This one works for that purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far So good. Recommend. Not always confident about using aftermarket batteries but if B&H offers one, I trust B&H. Have used a few times and they seem to work well and hold a good charge. Bought 2 of these and initially, one wouldn't charge the first time. Removed battery from charger and plugged back in and then charged without a problem and several times since so I'm confident these will work just fine. Two of these were half the cost of one Canon OEM battery which served me well. It appears you can't get the OEM battery anymore.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from serious problem I bought the Watson battery to increase the recording time of my Canon Vixia HF M30 camcorder. The original Canon battery provided about 1 hour of recording time, and the Watson registered about 2 hours after I charged it. However, the first time I used it, I noticed some kind of static or interference across the top third of the screen and the recording. I have had this camcorder many years, without a problem, so I assume this problem (which I can't get rid of) was caused by the Watson battery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good buy I bought this battery because my HF G10 uses the same batterys as my two older vixias and have used it with the HF G10 and my HF 10. I remember reading reviews that the pearstone battery would not charge with the on camera adapter and you would need the Canon Battery Charger, which I have, to charge it. I even had the battery in a camera and plugged the charger into the camera and it seemed to be charging but i will confirm this next time i need to charge it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheaper, better Great battery at significant savings from the comparable Canon price gouge. Can't compare it for operation or length of charge since I haven't used the Canon 819 but it's a solid battery, as solid as the smaller Canon battery that came with the camera. I took it backpacking this last weekend, and it kept going for over about 5 hours of shooting. Really, how much more can you say about a battery?
