    Transcend StoreJet 25M3 reviews

1TB StoreJet 25M3 Anti-Shock External Hard Drive (Iron Gray) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything it promises to be and more I bought several of this drive to serve as immediate and backup storage of music and movies. The transfer speed of the 3.0 USB capability meets expectations and the speed of the 2.0 compatability exceeds them. The USB hub also serves as the power source, which cuts down on the tangly wire mess. On top of the performance and streamlining benefits, the drive is built to military grade shock specifications, and has thus far proved itself by surviving several bumps and bangs on the subway, not to mention a two-foot drop that rendered a less stalwart drive corrupt. In short, the drive rocks and acts like one too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable hard drive but a bit slow I have tried a few different external hard drives that I use to backup all my important files. When I discovered Transcend StoreJet a few years ago I haven't bought any other brand. All the other ones I have used have started clicking at some point but not these ones. The rubbery plastic cover seems to help protect them. And I travel with my hard drives all over the world so I have put them through a bit of shaking and maybe bumbing around too. My only complaint is that this new one I bought seems to be a little bit slower than the older ones to show up on my desktop. I don't know why. Other than that this one seem as good as the previous Transcends I have bought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A unit that does the job - in style! Backup is getting nicer and nicer. This little unit is great - light, small, attractive, wicked fast and allegedly tough as nails, though I personally don't want to give it the 6 foot drop test onto concrete that it supposedly would survive. It comes with a double cord that can be plugged into two USB slots to ensure enough power, but it seems to work fine on one slot. One caveat - forget about the included backup software. It will only lead to misery and opportunities to check out the toughness of the unit, since you will probably want to throw it against the nearest wall. Just use it with sync-toy and love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Buyer I use this puppy to store and back up all of my personal business files/documents. Everything from pro quality photos, faxes, contracts, etc. This unit is exceptional for handling both the media and file management aspect of business. YOU NEED USB 3.0 port to maximize the performance potential of this piece. Yes, it is backwards compaitible with 2.0; but being built and advertised as a 3.0 unit with zippy speed capabilities, you had better have a 3.0 port.It is simple to set up and use, and has worked like a charm for the past 2-3 months. I use this to organize and maintain my day to day business operations and rely on it performance and functionality. I'm tempted to buy another, but I think 1TB is plenty of space for the time being.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from no exactly plug-and-play, but the price is good Overall, I think this product is a pretty good bargain. However, it's characterization as being compatible with Windows, Mac OS, or linux operating systems is a bit misleading. Out of the box, It's only able to plug-and-play with Windows. Short of reformatting the HD to be compatible with Mac OS or linux, you'll need to install NTFS-3G on your Mac OS or linux system in order to R/W to the HD (using NTFS). After a little work I was able to accomplish that (install NTFS-3G) on both a Macbook Pro and a linux WS. So now I'm able to seamlessly mount/read/write the Transcend HD, with either a Windows, Mac OS, or linux systems. The Transcend HD documentation only discusses reformatting the HD for a particular OS. You'll have to use the power of the Google in order to figure out how to properly install NTFS-3G for Mac/linux.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent portable Hard drive I store a lot of photographs in such portable drives. As a photographer I need to rely on something that will protect my data and will not accidentally crash without any reason or with any valid reason like falling off the hand. I had a 640GB Transcend portable hdd before and it's working perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great External Drive I have a few of the Transcend HDs. The most recent I purchased is the 1TB. Per B&H rep, I formatted it to Fat 32 in order to copy files from my PC to my new MacBook Pro. Worked like a charm. A bit slow process coming from USB2 PC, but very fast pasting to USB3 Mac. I have dropped previous drives, which I use for photo backups and storage, and have had no problems. I highly recommend Transcend products. And no, I don't work for them. And trust B&H customer reps in chat. They are always helpful and knowledgable.
