Watson D-4203 overview

  • 1Description

The Duo LCD Charger for L & M Series Batteries from Watson conveniently charges two batteries simultaneously, drawing power from either an AC wall source (an AC cord with two-prong plug is included) or a 12/24V DC power source (a DC car charger is also included). Additionally, the Duo Charger features a USB power output to charge and power MP3 players, phones, digital cameras, and other devices with a USB power input.

With two easily interchangeable plates, the intelligent charger can also be used for other battery models that are not listed above via the separate purchase of an additional battery plate that's compatible with the intended battery model.

The intelligent charger features an LCD display that graphically shows charge status for both batteries. This allows you to test batteries instantaneously, so you can easily decide which Li-ion cells to bring with you for the day. With protection against overcharging, overheating, and short circuit, the Duo Charger safely, conveniently, and quickly recharges up to two compatible Li-ion batteries and one USB-powered device.

    Watson D-4203 reviews

Duo LCD Charger for L & M Series Batteries is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better Than Expected Not the cheapest charger, considering the brand & what I'd read from reviews but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It's a really cool charger, lost of features, charges batteries pretty fast, definitely a lot faster than normal so it's definitely aquick charger. Over all it feels like a really nice quality product, better quality than I was expecting. I haven't had it long so these are my impressions so far. CONS: the only con which is kinda significant is that the batter plate, being that it comes out to accommodate different types of batteries is not the tightest & most secure. That said it's definitely not a deal breaker for me a sit would only really be a problem if you had the charger positioned in a way that you really shouldn't have it anyway.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super flexible charger I purchased this charger to charge both M series (For my sony SLR) and L series batteries (For my Marshal monitor). This charger proves quick charge times with a greater level of available information than other chargers. The only negative is how easily the adapter plates come off the charger itself. Rarely will they stay on if I try to remove an L series battery. The mechanism that holds this in place should be revised in future iterations. This is however a small price to pay for the knowledge that if i need to charge another battery type, I need only purchase an inexpensive plate, as apposed to a full charger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Cool, Really Necessary Bought two units so I could charge multiple batteries at once, which I use for on-camera LED lights and on-camera monitor. It takes awhile to charge these batteries, so if I want continuous use for a longer shoot, then I'll need multiple batteries, because I'll go through the batteries in less time than it takes to charge them up. So, I'll have to have all batteries charging at the same time to get back to action. These units serve as battery testers when not plugged in. They read both battery voltage and charge level. They do not refurbish the batteries, but they're pretty good for charging and keep you informed on how its going. I've come to realize that virtually everything in video is mission-critical, so it really means you've got to be prepared for anything. Like battle, you've got to have spares and back up plans. While on a shoot you don't have time to figure things out. You've got to be instantly ready to move to plan B, without drama and delay. I've experienced batteries lined up waiting to be charged while the charger is busy working on the first battery. Multiple chargers take the risk out of the possible failures or contingencies, including the possibility that a charger itself may fail.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well This charger works well to charge two batteries simultaneously. I don't know how it compares with Sony's own dual charger options, but for the NP-F970 batteries, you can count on a long charge for an empty battery. It takes about 6 hours, in my experience, but at least it does two at a time. The interchangeable battery slots are prone to becoming dislodged from the actual charger. So, be careful when transporting, that you don't lose or otherwise break them. It's a bit of a design flaw that they release too easily. But, otherwise I give high marks, and the LCD readouts are nice, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect all in one! I have four different Sony cameras, all with their own batteries. It was a pain traveling because I had to take four different chargers. A fellow photographer showed me his Watson charger and had nothing but good things to say about it. I bought mine with the inserts I needed for my various batteries...couldn't be happier. I works extremely well and has the added advantage of telling me how discharged a battery is before charging. The charger comes with power cords for both wall and automotive charging. You can also attach a USB device for charging while recharging a battery.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Battery Charger! I bought this charger because the one that came with my "Genaray Cruse Portable LED Light" take 13 to 14 hours to charge aNP-F750F battery. This Watson DUO LCD Charger does it in 1.5 hours. I was told that a battery will not last as long using a FAST Charge. That's fine with me. Life it too short to waste time. Just be careful when inserting the battery into the charger because the charging pins on the mounting plate can be bent easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Moneysaving alternative to Sony charger I've used the Sony duo chargers for years to charge NP series batteries. When it was time for a new charger I decided to save a few bucks and buy this as a replacement. On the plus side, the USB port will charge an iPhone, freeing up one of the often scarce AC plugs in the hotel room. Also, the display is nice, gives remaining capacity and current voltages. Has a car adaptor and a way to charge from 12v - again a big plus when traveling. Couple of annoyances - enough to drop it a star: 1) the adaptor plates slide off with the battery (applying a strip of G-tape fixes this for now) and 2) the unit makes an audible 3100Hz tone while it's charging (trust me, you don't want to put this baby next to the bed unless you're a sound sleeper).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Flimsy... Got this for our Shogun. It does the job and its cheap. However, the plates do NOT lock into place very tightly. The batteries lock in about as tight as the plates do, which means its easy to just pull the plate right out with the battery unless you're very careful. And the power chord did NOT fit snugly. I had to really push it in and yank it out a number of times, just to get it to fit properly. Never encountered that before. If it doesn't hold up, we'll have to buy the Sony. Considering how positive the reviews were, I don't get it.
