    Watson BP-511A reviews

    BP-511A Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.4V, 1400mAh) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 300.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Careful This battery works great as long as you don't use it for a sporting event. I used it over a month for portrait sessions, and didn't notice any difference between this and the Canon supplied battery. Then I used it at a recent sporting event where I took roughly 1400 frames on this battery. Now, even after a fresh recharge, I get an error on the camera to turn it off and then back on, or reinstall the battery. I can't get through even a few shots now before getting this error. I would not recommend this battery for any use except sporting events requiring fast continuous shooting, which seems to have led directly to this battery failing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Replacement Battery I use this replacement battery in an original 6MP Canon Rebel.....the original Canon battery lasted for many years and daily shooting of 100's of photos. I had another off-brand battery for the camera, but it did not last long at all (months) before it quit holding a charge. The Pearstone BP-511A charged up in my original charger, and has lasted for over 500 shots so far (same charge), and is still showing full. Moost of the shots were taken in available light, without flash. So far, so good, for about half the price of the original Canon battery. The other Pearstone AA batteries that I use for my speedlights work fantastic as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is why I don't shop at BigBlue Ok, so I wanted a new set of batteries for my grip. ... To be honest, I'm not sure why I even bothered...These 511's have comparable specs to the OEM (1400mAh vs 1390mAh). As long as you aren't using mismatched batteries, there's nothing wrong with the 3rd party versions at all. Comparing dollar for dollar, these are two for the price of one!Note - DON'T use two different brands in your grip at the same time. This goes for the 511's and AA's alike. The mAh difference is slight, but it is enough to muddle things up for you in the long run. It's a precaution - make sure your batteries jive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Already a full charge I've been using the same two Lithium Ion batteries since I bought my DSLR almost 10 years ago. I know, time for a camera upgrade - but it's not in the current budget. The batteries were drained in under 10 minutes. It was frustrating. I got nervous when I couldn't find the same battery on the B&H site, but the Pearstone replacement seems to do the trick. You're supposed to fully charge a battery when it's new, but this one was already a full charge. I like not having to worry about my battery failing in the middle of a shoot. It would have 5 stars if I'd used it more than once, but so far I've only used it once and I can't be sure of how next time will go...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long lasting battery I just bought 2 of these to use with my BG-C3 vertical grip. Tested them out on a weekend shoot and I am in love with them already. My Canon 50D was on for 3 hours straight and I shot over 300 pictures without putting a dent in the battery's charge! Three days later I am still able to pull my camera out of the bag with a full-charge showing on the camera. My only pet peeve is that the edges of the battery are a little rounded so the plastic lock that hold the battery in place on my vertical grip slips off before I can close the battery gate. Once it is closed the batteries stay in fine, but it can be a pain getting them to stay in long enough to get the battery gate closed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good... I bought two of these for my Canon 50D. I use live view for about 15% of my shots. I always shoot until a battery is completely discharged, My original 18 month old Canon battery is going strong. I bought a cheaper battery as a spare six months ago and it recently died. I had used the cheap spare for about 3000 shots before it bit the dust. I now have 2000+ shots on each new Pearstone battery & they both going strong. I get more shots per charge with the Pearstone than the 18 month old Canon battery. I still can't say anything conclusive on how long they last but they hold a charge just fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Aftermarket Battery I am a professional photographer, so I use my equipment a lot and always shop for new, even if I am not ready to buy immediately. So far this new battery has proven to be effective as a Canon replacement battery. I have used it for several shoots and it appears to have good power. It also charges on my Canon factory charger. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I do not know how long the battery will keep full charges. My Canon batteries lasted like NEW for over 3 years before deterioration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from QUICK charging, holds charge GREAT!!! These work just as well as canon's brand batteries. They charge quickly and hold their charges great. I use two with my BG-E2N BATTERY GRIP and never have to worry about running out of juice. worth the price and work just as well as some my other more expensive batteries. should have gone with them in the first place.
