ProVista Video Tripod Kit with FM18 Fluid Head & W3 Universal Dolly is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Tripod This has been a great and sturdy tripod. It is somewhat on the heavier side, however, based on the kit, it's more of a studio/set style set up where the only time you're moving the it is from transport to location. The center post is somewhat wobbly, however, that may be due to my aggressive attempts to remove the tripod head (there are apparently two screws holding it from rotating off). The dolly is nice, however, the wheels are somewhat small allowing it smooth motion on most but not all surfaces. The head was, and somewhat still is, stiff. This is a positive for me in that I have loaded it to near maximum weight without seeing any drooping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very impressed I shoot weddings and documentaries and prefer steady camera but need something I can move around quickly and I thought this tripod really suited my needs. It's alittle heavy but not bulky. I can lift it and lower it and pack it up quickly and easily. It also came with a carrying bag! The only thing to watch out for is when you raise the head, be careful of the neck, it has a sharp edge and I sliced my finger on it. Not a bad injury just at a bad time so, carful how you hold it. Once you know about that, it's easy to avoid. All in all a great tripod for the cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good solid piece of equipment, but... This is a solid tripod and will do the job for me. However, some reviews of similar tripods from this manufacturer had warned of the flip locks. I will add my voice to that chorus. The thing is sturdy and hopefully will serve me well. But the flip levers on the leg joints are difficult to close and a couple of the levers require so much torque that I am afraid I will either break one or break a finger bone trying. My plan now is to throw a pair of rawhide gloves in the kit to protect my delicate bits from injury. Also, many of the tightening handles/knobs for the fluid head, the elevator, the cross brace are set in such a way that when you turn them, they bump against other parts as they go. They tighten and loosen alright, but it's a little annoying. One other little annoyance (but not a deal breaker) is the case for the tripod had some cuts in the fabric, both outside and also in an interior spot where the head had apparently rubbed through. All that said, the thing works well, including the FM18 fluid head, which is smooth as silk, and the included dolly, which is well-made and rolls cleanly. So, unless something just snaps before the requisite time, I'm going to keep it and see how it goes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price! I've used this for small commercial productions, events and weddings. This is probably the best out there for the price. The fluid head moves nicely. The dolly kit works well (if you're on smooth flooring of course) the wheels lock down and release nicely. It probably deserves 4 stars, but for the price I give it a bonus star. A few negatives: Many of the nuts for tightening things down are in poor locations and badly designed. The quick release nut for example, will hit equipment as you're trying to tighten it or loosen it, not to mention the plate needs some convincing to get it to slide out. Would've been nice for the carrying bag to be able to fit the dolly kit as well, oh,so close! You can get it in there if you don't zip the bag all the way. To voice what other reviewers have stated: The clasps can be a little difficult to lock down depending on the position of the legs. The center post does have a very sharp edge, if it's cranked up you should not carry the tripod by it. I plan to hit it with a file to take care of that because it's too easy to forget, and a nice slice on your hand is not a good way to finish out a shoot... blood everywhere, pain, no access to first aid supplies, etc... Over all, the negatives are nothing I can't work around, or find ways to fix, and the price makes easy to put up with them. It does what it needs to do well; smooth and controllable pan and tilt function, stable and holds up the camera... If any footage gets ruined it will not be the fault of the tripod... I've only had it for a month so we'll see how it holds up, but so far happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Provista This is the second Provista tripod setup I have bought. I also have the Davis & Sanford 75mm Provista 75XB tripod and dolly set. These tripods are great field and studio tripods. Both the 75XB and the Provista 18 tripods are sturdily built and with the FM18 head that supports up to 18 pounds assures the professional and the amateur a smooth tilt and pan every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal System for Beginning Video Shooter This Provista tripod is solid, yet easy to set up and adjust. The fluid head is well-known for its smoothness, and the quick release feature allows for rapid changes of cameras. The dolly folds so that all 3 legs are parallel and then the attached handle makes transportation a snap. The whole unit feels very solid. I noticed that with a substantial amount of weight attached to the head (full-frame DSLR and heavy zoom lens) the assembly felt a bit top heavy. A sandbag weight or other stabilizing element on the dolly legs might make it easier to move without the risk of tipping.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would spend more on my next tripod, but this one is great. Pretty light considering how high it goes. Dolly is a plus but would have liked larger softer casters. Price is fantastic. Two handles are a plus but are very close to each other and other tension screws are impeded by the handles bolts. Also the head is very stiff and will need plenty of breaking in. The center post will flex when trying to pan, even when the center post is not locked, due to the stiffness of the head. Maybe joints and center post could have been made of thicker metal or steel, but I guess to keep it light, some sacrifices need to be made. Nice to be able lock spreader in other positions. This allows legs to be closer in tight areas and allows dolly to fit with locked spreader very securely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Than I expected! Let me start out by saying this is a fantastic tripod for the money spent. I realize there are better tripods out there but you will need to spend 2 1/2 to 3 times as much money to get something that is just a little bit better in my opinion. The build and finish quality is very good. Tripod is very strong and very stable with smooth pan and tilt action. Down side to this product is that it's a bit on the heavy side to lug around however once you get it to where you are shooting you will be glad you have it. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solid smooth tripod and has a limited budget. I looked hard and long before purchasing this tripod comparing everything out in this price range and believe that this is a great bang for the buck.
