The drawback is the expense, but you knew that going in, so no stars off. These are not some light-weight stands, but are a solid 6.6 lbs. each (18.6 lbs. with a KH 120 II mounted). The base measures 7.25 in. W x 10.5 in. D., while the stand is approx. 20 in. tall. While the base of the ones I received is near identical to the picture here today, there is a 2.5 in. gap in the middle... so, kinda horseshoe shaped (see Neumann website for photo). Not that that matters, except it likely removes some extra, unneeded weight. One reviewer mentions the tube diameter being quite large (front to back). If this matters to you, I measured that the tube+bracket adds about 2.75 in. from placing a speaker against a wall, but this distance is only if you're not tilting monitor (more if you're tilting the monitor). This is a very study stand!
This stand it welded steel and heavy. The screws fell like they are cross threading when you attach the speaker because they allowed paint to enter the threads when the unit was painted. It would make a serious weapon in a pinch if you can lift it. All-in it's very German - I like it.
