question

Can I use this to calibrate dye sub printers such as the Hiti P510L and DNP DS80?
Asked by: Anonymous
I am sorry, you would not be able to use this to calibrate a dye sub printer. In fact I have not seen an option that would.

question

Will this kit integrate with the Spyder 4 monitor spectrometer and software, or do I need the Spyder 5?
Asked by: Anonymous
Printer Profiling and Monitor Calibration are two separate things. Best print results come from using both.Monitor calibration uses hardware and software magic (magic, stuff I couldn't explain even if I understood) to bring your monitor color display as close to true and accurate as possible. Printers can't do true and accurate. Each combination of printer, paper and ink needs its own profile. These profiles have file extensions of either .icm or .icc, no real difference between the two, just different names for the same thing. In use, the SpyderPrint software sends a print job to the printer consisting of many different color squares, there are selectable options for number of squares and pages used. The Spectrocolorimeter is then used to read the colors that actually printed and compares what the printer actually did print with what the printer was told to print, software analyzes the differences and generates what is essentially an error correction file which is the icc/icm profile for that specific printer/ink/paper combination. Then, in your post processing software (I use LightRoom, can't speak to others), use the 'Soft Proofing' function to preview print output using the appropriate icc/icm profile. When your monitor is calibrated and you soft proof with an appropriate icc/icm, when you finally click 'Print', what comes out of your printer matches what you saw on screen. Being as how profiling and calibration are two completely separate things, any complete profiling solution should work fine with any complete calibration solution. I use SpyderPrint with a Canon Pro 100, an X-Rite calibration system was included with my NEC monitor.Once set up, right from the very first print, EVERY print has looked exactly how it looked on the monitor. Whatever calibration solution you use, give it complete control of monitor color management but soft proof in your post processing software.Don't give soft proofing to monitor color management.

Hi would this work for the Canon Pixma Pro-100?
Asked by: Antuan T.
I use it on an Epson but see no reason why it shouldn't work on your Canon.
