The Universal Lens Gear from Wide Open Camera is an 11.25" long lens gear with standard 0.8 Mod (32 pitch) gearing that makes it compatible with most geared follow focus systems. With nine holes for nine length settings, it's also compatible with most lenses.

The lens gear uses zip tie fasteners to attach to your lens—simply cut it to fit. The gear's 0.5" width works with longer-throw lenses, including macros.

Universal Lens Gear is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens Gear Only had this for a little while but it's very secure and holds up to the cold very well. Only get this if you have a follow focus that can reach the barrel of the lens since this gear is almost flush with the focus ring on the lens you are putting it onto. Best follow focuses for this are those with single rail mounts. Also make sure the lens you are putting this onto does NOT have more than a 360 degree turn because you will not be able to turn it with the follow focus completely. The connecting point on the gear will stop it. Great for when you use your lenses for more narrative film work and photography as you can leave the gear on and it won't interfere with storage. Saves time from installing a lens gear during setup too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well If you're looking at this, you know what it's for. Two things I like about this ring:1) It's low profile so it slides into your bag without getting snagged. 2) I kinda like the wide track that it has. It allows you to be a little more liberal with where you line up your FF. Wish there was a better way to attach it than using tie wraps. Panasonic uses a great elastic band with hooks to attach their zoom lever that works great. Also, Why do these things have to cost so much?!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great low profile gear. For ease of use and quality I would give these gears 5 stars. The only thing keeping me from doing so is the inability for 360 degree rotation. For short draw lenses that only have a 60 degree draw these work perfectly, and I was even able to use half of a gear on one lens and use the rest on another. I ran into a problem with a 35mm prime lens I have which has almost a 360 degree draw, because of the way these gears are designed it keeps me from reaching my closest focus on that lens, which is a small price to pay but annoying none the less. For the price and versatility of these lenses they are a terrific product, I am able to leave them on the lenses without them getting in the way when I decide to not use a follow focus. Aside from the one minor flaw, a terrific purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from work as described The good- Work as described. The lens gear fit snug against the lens. But because of that, keep in mind that in certain applications, specially on short lenses, you may not have enough room to put the follow focus right against the lens. The bad- One million dollars for that little piece of plastic! Where is China when you need them?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strong and wide lens gear This is a great tool for anyone wanna to give their lenses a cine feature. Gear works perfectly with my follow focus as it is that standard 0.8 pitch. It was wider than I expected, but that is actually a good thing for the lens I'm using it on (Canon 75-300). Lenses with smaller focus rings will want one of the thinner gears. The only complaint I have is that these gears tend to slip over time. Make sure you REALLY tighten them down when you're putting them on your lenses if you want them to hold their place for a long time.Overall it's a great product for a good price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works got tired of mounting the hard plastic gear ring so I bought a few of these, unless your focus ring spins near 360 degrees you can mount it on any size lens, including small diameter ones without cutting the gear, just use your brain. This way you can remove it in the future if you upgrade your lens and such, and use it on another lens. I dripped a little teflon liquid (normally used on bicycle chains) onto the gear and that quieted down the follow focus nicely, this way it's less noise in microphone for syncing sound later in my 5D2.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's OK It is what it is... cheap piece of plastic. Nothing fancy about it, but seems to be fairly well geared with minimal slippage. Frankly it shouldn't cost more than half of what it sells for, but someone's put in effort to design it so they need to make it worth their while, I'm sure. The main issue is that you have to cut the zip ties on and off if you want to use your glass for stills shooting, which I do. Otherwise, aside from looking pretty hideous, it's definitely not pleasant to touch vs. the soft but grippy focus rubber. I use this on my Carl Zeiss zooms and the tension seems to build up where the ties are, vs even distribution around the ring, so it actually slightly deforms (temporary, if you don't keep it on all the time) the focus ring, which is not good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best A7 cage! This cage is probably one of the better out there, and for the price its top notch. It can support any sony A7 camera S, R, s/rII. So as long as sony sticks with that about setup for their mirronless cameras it should fit in here. Ony cons are: Could fit camera a lil snugger at the top, to minimize flex (but that would also negate the fits all A7's) and the alan key it comes with is made of a very cheep metal and bent upon tightening screws.
