The Polaroid 46mm Neutral Density Fader Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing a reduction of about 1.3 to 8.6 stops. The ND 3x to ND 400x density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, allowing you to previsualize the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.

Multicoated glass filter for optical clarity and color fidelity.
To help minimize vignetting, the front filter thread dimensions are larger than the mounting thread dimensions; for stacking filters, the front thread diameter is 49mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-in-One ND for MFT lenses Needed a variable ND for my set of Panasonic MFT lenses, which are pretty much all uniformly 46mm. This is very useful when trying to get a nice depth of field on bright sunny days when you can't even get a good exposure with bokeh at 100ISO.I typically use this for video, but even for photos, this is an ESSENTIAL part of your kit if you are going to be shooting outdoors. Nice build quality- never feels like its going to crack or bend. Only con is that I can't fit the lens cap when I have it on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome ND! I'm really happy with this purchase. I have a GH4, and retaining a shallow depth of field is pretty important to me. This filter really allows me to do that. You will not be able to use the same lens cap for the front of the filter, but that is not a big deal to me. Obviously with a more expensive filter you will get a slightly sharper image, but for this price, the filter does an amazing job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter for the Price After reading lots of reviews I decided to go with this for my Panasonic G7 and so far it's been a great addition. The combination of price and range of stops really is bang for the buck. My lens cap does stay on although not a perfect fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Flexible ND and a good value I bought this for use with lenses such as my M.Zuiko 25mm when doing flash photography, using the filter to reduce light and allowing the use of wide apertures while maintaining a supported X-sync speed. The filter works well for this and doesn't produce a significant color shift at different intensity settings. However, it does affect the whitebalance and color response, so if color accuracy is critical I recommend creating a custom profile using a X-Rite Colorchecker or a similar product. One drawback of the filter's design is that the front diameter is larger than the nominal 46mm size (hence the complaints from some others that their lens caps don't fit -- it is called out in the product description so it shouldn't be a surprise). The problem for me is that the larger diameter makes it impossible to fit my lens hoods after the filter has been attached to the lens, and at the same time attaching the filter with the lens hood already attached is quite difficult, and reading the markings on the rim of the filter impossible. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but if you require the use of a lens hood with this filter, be aware of this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great product and very useful too. I shoot a lot in the sun, and of course that often means using an aperture setting that's in the high numbers. Problem is, that means losing the nice bekeh associated with a wide open lens. Step in the neutral density filter. This is a very effective variable NDF that's inexpensive and easy to use. Just turn it and you can keep a low f stop and still keep the narrow depth of field effect we all ilke. Well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fair, solid, compact I was surprised to see NO sharpness and contrast reduction. AF system performs accurate with my Panasonic GX7. I can recommend this filter for sunny day outdoor video shooting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for my x5 I use this on my DJI Inspire's x5 camera. It definitely saves time swapping out NDs on site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Bought one for my Pentax Camera - works great! Just bought another for my RCA CC350 VHS camcorder. B&H also sells a step-down adapter so you can use your Hood (ie 49mm down to 46mm). As far as Lens caps... just buy one that fits! I bought one that fits on the Lens Hood - don't have to take anything apart!
